[3.21] Aegis Incinerate Elementalist - Tank with over 10mil Shaper DPS!
Hi all.
Yes Puppy, I agree with everything you just wrote. I think I better understand how Energy Leech is used now. Lets see if POB can help us here (and I will mitigate the POB warrioring as best I can to give us a fair picture)..... Lets do a comparison of ES Leech to Arcane Surge to Conc Effect 1) ES Leech Support when leeching: 17.5m dps when not leeching: 14.8m dps We will always get one of the two. I think we will get the 17.5m more often but it is still a mix. For the sake of argument, lets say on average we get 16.4m dps 2) Arcane Surge Support (lets assume constant channeling forever as it gets too complicated otherwise). When Leeching: For 4 out of every 7 seconds: 19.2m dps For 3 out of every 7 seconds: 13.7m dps This works out to 16.8m dps on average When not Leeching: For 4 out of every 7 seconds: 18.0m dps For 3 out of every 7 seconds: 12.8m dps This works out to 15.8m dps on average. Like above, I think we will be leeching more often than not leeching so lets say overall 16.5m dps Note: Divergent Arcane Surge Support will last a full 2 seconds longer A Divergent Arcane Surge Support would result in: 18.41m when leeching 17.26m when not leeching Like above, I think we will be leeching more often than not leeching so lets say overall 18m dps on average. 3) Concentrated Effect: When Leeching: 19.55m dps When not Leeching: 18.33m dps Like above, I think we will be leeching more often than not leeching so lets say overall 19.1m dps on average. Conclusion: *On average, ES Leech Support and Arcane Surge support provide nearly identical DPS. *Using a Divergent Arcane Surge Support gives it a nice advantage over ES Leech *Conc Effect, as expected, gives the highest DPS on average with the downside of losing AOE. That was a lot of work to leave me still not knowing which is best :) I will experiment with Conc Effect to see how it feels while mapping. I feel like I have used this in the past with Elementalist and it felt fine. Any comments or suggestions (or corrections).....? Last edited by AndyLovesHisBge on Aug 15, 2022, 11:14:59 AM

oh crap.........I think some of the work above is compromised.
I forgot that our armor raises the level of Arcane Surge by 2. That means it takes even more mana spent to proc it. A level 22 Arcane Surge takes 527 mana to proc. That means we need to take over 10 seconds to proc it.... Since Arcane Surge only last 4 seconds, that means for 6+ seconds, we will be with out the more powerful Arcane Surge. I am not going to go back and redo the numbers above but I now think this makes Arcane Surge Support much less viable. So I think it comes down to ES Leech Support vs Conc Effect Support... |

I think your conclusion is correct. Arcane surge in main links is not maintainable, and I think concentrated effect is more consistent than energy leech.

" ok thank you. @Claeysken, could you do a map run or two with Conc Effect in place of ES Leech and see how it feels from an AOE perspective? It should feel better from a DPS point of view. |

POB has had its first big update for 3.19.
Here is the latest POB using the new update. @Claeysken, please add to front page when you have a chance https://pobb.in/ASP_oY60pVbp |

" A small nitpick - I didn't mention it before, but after double checking it again I don't think amulets with +1 to Level of all Intelligence Skill Gems exist anymore. I guess it's supposed to have +1 to Level of all Fire Skill Gems or (literally) 20x rarer mod +1 to Level of all Skill Gems. It's also a bit weird that the amulet has Hunter base without any Hunter mod on it. Last edited by MrCinos on Aug 15, 2022, 4:11:01 PM

" Ok, so I feel like this one is going to be very much up to the player... For me, personally, having played this build mostly as Elementalist by now, I feel the AoE hit is too big (although I do have to admit that casting Infernal Cry frequently alleviates the hurt somewhat) and so I do prefer Energy Leech myself. But I think the ones who played the Inquisitor or Guardian version aren't going to notice the AoE difference and so Conc Effect might be a stronger gem. " Done! *EDIT* I've taken the liberty of adjusting your PoB with the inclusion of 2 different trees: -One for when you have the Pain Attunement node on the tree -One for when you have the Skin of the Lords with Pain Attunement https://pobb.in/DSHGDeGum-Yy Last edited by Claeysken on Aug 15, 2022, 4:19:32 PM

" thank you!!! Claey's build goes back multiple leagues and it is hard to keep track of the all the changes. He only plays in Standard so sometimes we overlook things like this. I will see if I can find a replacement (or maybe if I am too lazy, I will just edit the amulet to fix the discrepancy). |
|
ok here is an updated POB that fixes the amulet issue.
After talking it over with Claey on discord, we changed it to be +1 to level of all Fire Skill gems since that will be much easier to acquire than +1 to level of all Skill Gems. https://pobb.in/FFrG_1NHUIko |

My concern is that if we are on full ES, the damage from energy leech is abysmal (15%)...
We went the rounds before on awakened controlled destruction, probably still not use it. With a crit chance of 3.23, there's only a 28% chance to proc elemental overload per second. If we held down incinerate for 8 seconds (duration of elemental overload) we have a 92.7% chance to proc it, but that just sounds silly. OK so that's out. The POB has "enemy is chilled" marked, I assume from cold snap. Is that really true though? Cold snap creates a chilling ground, does that trigger chilled status on the enemy? Because if it does, we can use hypothermia for a consistent 30% damage, versus the 40% if we are leeching energy shield. |
