Cold ANIMATE WEAPON Summoner | League-Start & Leveling Guide

Hi! New player here, so my questions might seem a little dumb to everyone reading, but if you or anyone could please still answer them ,that would be much appreciated!

My first question is:

How would you link gems for Curse on Hit - and the Curse on Bladefall with all the other stuff? I noticed you said you can make triad gloves 4 socket, but is it also possible, or realistic to make it 6 socket as well, or would you do it another way? And which curse is best for this build?

Also, I'm curious how you would move Animate Guardian, and all that stuff over to the shield like you recommended.

If you could answer me, or if anyone who knows could help, that would be really helpful! Thanks!

Sorry this thread is huge now: did you discuss animate weapon with impale champion yet?
Zero synergy between impale AW and champion.
Really? I thought the contributions from Master of Metal and Worthy Foe were pretty big.

Both of those nodes have no real effect on minions.

EDIT: Excuse me, forgot the added phys to allies per Impale from Master of Metal. And I guess if you assume that you Bladefall a lot, which we don't because we usually only Bladefall when we need to re-summon our AWs, the increased phys dmg taken works too. But yea, not even in the same league when compared to necro.

You only get the added physical damage from Master of Metal, and increased damage taken is so numerous for physical build so it's incredibly diluted. So worthy foe is pretty bad as well.

I must be ultra confused. Master of Metal as I read it gives minions added physical damage per impale, and worthy foe increases the minion damage against enemies you've hit by 20%, along with giving them 100% hit chance. Am I misreading something?

No, but it's shit compared to what Necro is giving, and it's shit in general because the bonus are quite small in a physical build. A cold conversion AW actually get higher dps from champion. And you are on the wrong side of the tree.

Nah I edited my comment above after you quoted. You aren't confused, I was. But the point stays the same, Champion doesnt even play in the same league as Necro as far as this build is concerned.

Will running chains of command + baron strength stacking + an animate guardian wielding a pillar of the caged god work like I think it will? It seems like with the big added flat damage animate weapon has now, pillar's 16% increased weapon damage per 10 strength mod would be kind of stupid.
I think new PoB messed up, doesn't list the gems for gloves. Maybe I am missing something.

Hi there!

As it exists now, in the late game there aren't enough sockets available to have Curse on Hit gem attached to Bladefall. I mention it as an option because you might want to do it that way before the very end game setup.

The way curse will be applied eventually is probably through a corrupted set of gloves being used by Animate Guardian. That curse would be Elemental Weakness. Earlier on, Frostbite might be slightly better but I don't think that can be gotten on a corrupted item. If you're new, don't worry too much about the curse - it's a relatively small part of the overall damage, and really only matters against late bosses.

Triad Grip can only have 4 sockets at maximum.

Animate Guardian would ideally be in a shield, but again it looks like due to socket limitations it probably ends up being in the helmet instead.

Hope that is helpful, don't get hung up too much on the details - a lot of that stuff is min/maxing toward the very lategame content. We all love to discuss the picky points of getting that last 10-15% of DPS, but the skill itself should be strong without worrying about a lot of that if you're doing the core Hatred-Skitterbots plus 4 Green Triad Grip setup.
