That was really good! Thank you for putting that together.

At late end game, do you ever fore see yourself spending the points needed to get Death Attunement?

Nope, most posts so far have been assuming information based on how other gems scale. That's why the whole discussion about gem leveling with cold iron point THINKS it will scale higher damage because we might get even more weapons than 14 above gem level 20.

right I understand that but that was not my question.

My question was how do we eventually get that data? Do we have to wait for it to be data mined by players or is that information that GGG will eventually publish?

Maybe- the extra specter would be nice to have. I think it just depends on preference, getting a bit more DPS vs having more life nodes in the marauder section. I have 2 different trees in the first page of the guide as I'm not sure which way is better.

The fact that most summoners take Death Attunement might be a sign it's a must-have, though.
Are you sure turning on white weapon bases in the loot filter is necessary with the casting changes? It now animates weapons in a targeted area, does not animate unidentified items or 6 socket items.

So the only situation I see where you animate a valuable weapon on accident destroying it is after doing a strongbox with identified item drops. And even then you mostly want to animate the blades now that they give added damage and aren't just glass shanks.

I have no experience whatsoever with Animate Weapon so im asking more knowledgeable people here, what do you think is going to be better for league starting Animate Weapon and for Chains of Command later,Scion or Witch?

If you want to play Chains of Command you need to be Scion for the pathfinder flask boosts.

I think the reduced minion count is a pretty big indirect nerf to Chains of Command.

If you want to summon animate weapons and have higher damage, do it as a witch.

Cant you just take chains of command 6l for inbuild melee splash for your regular AW?

I've heard that chains of command actually had a separate weapon count from the gem, so you could now actually use both the generated weapons and self cast which could be an overall buff to the build potentially.

But either way I think CoC version will be more expensive. And maybe much higher endgame DPS even if they aren't separate minion counters.
It's the opposite. CoC is cheap as hell all across the board for an insane dps (The build got an even better buff than AW dps wise). AW will be expensive, and will (barely) outscale CoC only once you are getting lot of gem levels.

It's not worth it, you are losing spectres and golems for that.

How do we find the "Greater than 20" level stats for AW?

Is that something that is data mined or does GGG eventually provide it?

ok I found my answer.

After the patch is downloaded, the POB coders have to data mine. once they data mine, they can get all the greater than level 20 stats and then add them into POB (and I assume eventually the wiki).
@MoLoK13 Thanks for the highly detailed post and breakdown here as well as the continued discussion. Ziz will be posting an AW guide soon, keen to see how he builds it and it will give another perspective for comparison.

I personally don't think it will be necessary to show them in the filter and to your other point, yeah we just need to refrain from spamming Animate Weapon when there are potentially valuable weapons to pick up still but again those should be shown in your filter and the odds of a valuable identified item are few and far between. In short: no need to clutter your screen with white weapon drops.
This thing about destroying weapons by accident is worrying.

So... the only way to avoid is is to try to spot them and try not to activate AW while they're on the ground? What if the item drops while you're still fighting?

Sounds as though some good items are going to get destroyed. :(

It will only target ID'd weapons. Just be careful not to hit something with 6 sockets...
