alright, here is where i'm at right now... almost at red maps

let me know how im doing :P

still working on getting flasks and i still have to reallocate constitution as you mentioned earlier

EDIT:

got the fang of frost anointment and flasks. Ripping T16 maps so far, but now skill comes into play because if you're not careful about the metamorphs or bosses for example - you can still get one shot sometimes.

Glad to hear it's going great! :D

One-shots are synonym for 3.9, everyone is getting blasted pretty much. Will work on the build to improve it.

Upgrade helmet and rings so you can craft +1 to minimum Frenzy on rings later.

Currently lvl 84 with my char, so far so good.
I took the corrupted soul timeless jewel to have a bigger buffer and went for soul of steel. Question, why did you decide not to take the soul of steel node? Imo it's the single most strongest node in the entire tree. Other than that, really great build and thank you for the idea.

UUUUUU I totally forgot about that jewel! Nice and ty for the contribute!

I didn't took soul of steel because i didn't need it in 3.8. Now it seems good choice in 3.9 instead Fangs of Frost anointment, when everything is prone to one-shot you.

The thing with +1% all res is, I'm not that convinced it's worth 4 passives. Here's why, +1% res and for example lets that fire so 76% fire res. +1% res translates into 4% less fire damage taken.
With char that scales a lot of life from Kaom's Heart it's more worth to invest into % increased life i think. +1% res has more impact on chars with low base life.

I'm trying to level Glacial myself atm. Just i didn't played much and raged so i deleted previous chars so no currency also. But ill get there :P

Oooo I see, that's a fair point, with the way the build scales, life should have more impact than the 4% reduction because of the base health scaling.

Also for the annoint I went with tribal fury (Gold oil, Silver oil and opalescent oil) since it frees up the skill gem for pure damage instead of ancestral call because it acts as an ancestral call. The clear speed isn't affected all that much which translates roughly in 40% more damage, it's just that for the price it might be still worth to go for fangs of frost.
Hi Torstein,

I got a question : I don't really understand why do we need +1 to min frenzy charges on each ring ? I mean we get 3 charges with Blood Rage, shouldn't we go for maximum frenzy charges instead ?

Now my feedback on the build (it's my 3rd league, so I'm still a new player) : to sum it up I really, really like it.

My stuff (lvl 93) :

Leveling :
Well, it's melee, so it's slow. Pillar of the Caged God helps a lot, but I had DPS problem starting at the beginning of Act 7, and killing some rares and bosses in the last acts was veeery long (Kitava took me maybe 10mins), I'll try to get a better staff for the end of the campaign next time.
Survivability is pretty good though, especially after 1st lab with the 25% healing when you use a warcry. I only died on Merveil Act I and Doedre in the sewers (I hate her), even with my crappy mechanics.

First maps :
I was lvl 66 back then so I couldn't use hegemony's Era yet, and it's been absolutely horrible (meta bosses had better regen than my DPS...) :D but...

After lvl 68 :
... now with Gemeony's Era, it's just a piece of cake. The damage is really good, ancestral call + culling strike from Glacial Hammer wipes everything out, and clear speed is far better than my 3.8 cyclone build (no matter the map Tier).
Leap slam, Enduring Cry, 1-2 hits -> repeat
Of course Elem Reflect and No leech are not doable. I avoid Phys Reflect as well.

For bosses, it's pretty simple : if they're not immune to freeze, they're as good as dead. If they are, well, with the boss changes it can be pretty hard like for everyone.

Delve :
I'm only at depth ~150 in mine but there's not a single threat atm.

Overall survivability :
With 7.2k ehp, 51% evade chance, 51% phys mitigation and 24% block chance, the build is tanky.
The only problem for me is the phys mitigation which relies a lot on Lion's Roar, so when fighting bosses who refuse to be frozen and deal a lot of physical damage, it can be really hard. I'm thinking about annointing Iron Reflexes, but it's expensive.
Also, Blood Rage hurts me pretty bad (though overleech outweighs it until you find some more monsters).
No problem with mana management at all.

Overall Damage :
As said before, regular/rare mobs just freeze and explode instantly.
For bosses gem swapping to Melee Support helps a lot, but they really have a shitload more HP than before, and it's a melee build so randoms one shots are sometimes not that random.

Build cost :
Everything's said in the guide : the most expensive item is Pandemonius, plus there's the problem of getting your Hegemony's Era 6 linked (as not many people use it you won't find many for sale that are already 6L).
To keep free suffix on rings plus having accuracy on them, and prefix + attack speed on gloves make resistances a bit hard to cap, but nothing unmanageable.
I would recommend to get a Winter Burial with "corrupted blood cannot be inflicted" for some encounters, it's not very expensive (30c).
Also, as Glacial Hammer is still played by 0.00% of people according to poe.ninja, a 21/23 skill gem is cheap as f*** (paid mine 20c) ^^

Conclusion :
Very good build, with an absolute non meta ever skill that can do about anything in the game, even though it does better at mapping than at boss killing imo (but boss killing changed a lot this league).
And, that's personal, but the gameplay is a lot of fun and not too hard.

A massive thanks to you Torstein !

Btw I've noticed your Poison Pathfinder build I'll probably try it next as DoTs seem to work pretty well with bosses (with Pestilent Strike or Viper Strike) ^^
And, again, your builds are just incredibly well written, that's just so helpful for new players.

It's minimum. You will always have at least 2 Frenzy charges even without killing anything. It's a damage boost vs bosses.
Blood Rage adds one more while mapping and attack speed.

Sorry about that. You all had struggle while leveling and it's my fault. I corrected it now, with mention to upgrade leveling staff to rare one as you go with more dps.

It's just a little annoyance but you counter it with Warcry when you are not hitting anything.
Use Chemist's Basalt flask for more phys reduction instead of Quicksilver.

You can upgrade your damage more. Boot enchant, min frenzy on rings, awakened gems if you have currency, recraft helmet with fossils, catalyze rings for more resistances, better boots... Lots of small things lead to big damage gains.
Ill update the build prob tomorrow. Timeless jewel will be added to the build which will give +1400 more energy shield.

TYVM for this wonderful feedback! :D
I'm glad to help out anytime, especially to new players.
If you wan't to go with Pathfinder it will be fun. It's different play style and it's prob one of the tankiest builds out there that can dish out very high damage at the same time.

Hi Torstein,

My build is going very well. I'm doing red maps and it still feel smooth. I followed your build very carefully but there is one thing I am not sure. The rings : while I couldnt afford to have a ring with +1 minimum frenzy charge I took rings with high elemental increase with attacks (36-38) and it feel now that my damage was higher with the elemental. Well on the character sheet I gain about 10 000 more dps maybe more.

What do you think?

And by the way great build! I realy love it :)

Level 95, almost 96, can do pretty much everything at a decent speed. Sirus awakening 8 takes so long compared to a minion build at the moment. This build is nice because the majority of the off meta items are dirt cheap, that's about it though.
IGN: EruptionII
Looking for good wander gear, 5L-6S, or 6L armor.
One of the new influence types has an elemental weakness on hit ring. Just had it drop and I'm wondering if it's worth crafting.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for this guide. I was leveling a molten strike build, and it was extremely painful, from like 40-55. GGG accomplished there goal, molten strike sucks! I was like, there has got to be a better way, started looking, and seen this guide. I swapped skill gem, got the 2 jewels, and bamm, game on. it was like in the, unbreakable WOW video, where he is healer spec, can't kill anything and gets beat up all the time. he then commits suicide, god resurrects him, and he specs into, STORMSTRIKE, and whole new life after that. That was how I felt, and wanted to let you know, your guide is appreciated!
Many thanks for your answer Torstein,

I'm still trying to unveil the +1 to min frenzy charges, it's really long to get...

I'm wondering about the Timeless Jewel you wanna add. I guess it's a Glorious Vanity with the Doryani mod, but I wonder where would you socket it, as it kinda randomly modifies all the nodes around, and it's a got a large area of effect.

Edit : unless you know the seed needed on that jewel (like between 2500 and 3500 sacrificed).

I used one last league and put it close to Point Blank which was fine, but it would cost quite a lot of skill points in this build to get there.

And Happy New Year everyone btw !

ty for the feedback! :)

You shouldn't buy rings that already have crafted "+1 minimum frenzy charge". Players will ask more for them. You should be crafting it yourself or with someone who has the recipe. Those kind of rings must already have accuracy, life, resists and free suffix for crafting.
Anyway you can go with increased elemental damage, it's ok too. :)
