Here's another thought. With the change to crown of eyes it is looking like this could be an alternative helm. Sure it doesn't have resists or Int but it has leech for life and mana which will now apply to all attacks. And, correct me if I am wrong, but this seems it would allow us to take Pain Attunement for a massive dps boost since this would apply to attacks. Not to mention any other passives near by that increase spell damage.

Edit: Scratch the Crown of Eyes idea paired with pain attunement. Checked PoB and it doesn't work. It's only specific to "increases" in spell damage. Bummer.

Err correct that it doesn't work, but that's because CI != LL. 1/1 life is Maximum or full life (hence why we run damage on full life support).

Yeah I forgot about CI lol. Idk, could still be a good alternative due to leech and "increases" to spell damage work. I will admit that a well rolled hubris will most certainly be better.
Aegis Aurora now has 300-400% (up from 80-100%) increased Armour and Energy Shield

Am i wrong or will this shield not kick ass in this build now at the cost of some intelligence? :)

Molten Strike itself is buffed.

Wildfire limited to 1.

As expected, top molten strike enchant is +2 proj.

Overall nerf? Math men/ladies where are you?

-3 projectiles.

Molten Strike

Now deals 120% of base damage at gem level 1, and 161% of base damage (up from 147%) at gem level 20.
Projectiles deal 40% less damage at gem level 1, and 30% less damage (from 40%) at gem level 20.

hmmm.
As far as i can tell, these changes are very nice for us:

- Molten strike - didn't really get nerfed. Now we got 9 projectiles instead of 12 (with dying sun), so that's 25% less damage, but we get almost the same amount of damage back. At the same time we earn 1 jewel slot, which is absolutely amazing. Clear speed won't be a good as it was though (most likely)

- New flat es nodes - i was expecting a bit more honestly. No changes for us here, it's not worth it to go for Essence Surge (probably)

- Unique item changes - there are some interesting options, but i need some time before i can say more, probably nothing will come out of it sadly

- Veiled items/reworked mastercrafting - that clearly is a huge buff for us, as we use 5/6 rare items

Overall we will be getting a very nice ES (and most likely damage) buff, i'm expecting 1-1.5k more es for molten strike version and 500-1k more es for blade flurry version of the build

Edit: i'm expecting even more people to try my build, pretty much every "free damage" build was nerfed hard with this patch, so guys, expect even higher prices for good equipment :p

Edit 2 : i quickly did some calculations :

Previous total damage with melee attack + 12 projectiles (assuming all would hit, but this is just an example) - 1205% attack damage
Current total damage with melee attack + 9 projectiles (and i will use 30% less damage from proj, we don't know yet if level 21 skill gem will ease the penalty to 29%) - 1175% attack damage

So it's actually a buff assuming that we get a jewel socket (with good jewel it's 2-3% more damage compared to previous version).

It's worth mentioning that with less aoe, point blank might bring us more damage than before, not 100% sure about that though

Aurora is an item with great mechanics, but I'm afraid the trade-off is very significant. Shield is our main source of flat ES and even with 400% Aurora won't be able to come close to good rare shields.

The buff is nice but I don't think it will do us any good.
Quick question...

Would it be suicide to consider going with this build right off the bat as season starts? Or should I transition from something else into this a bit later?

And if so, any clue on something easy to get started with to transition from?

Thanks, can't wait to finally try that beast out!

Well i said it many times, i don't recommend it as a starter build ;p Save up currency and then go for it, that's most definitely better
From the patch notes it looks like there are 3 new ailments as well. Scorched, Brittle and Sapped. Will be interesting to see if this build can be made immune to those as well as all of the current ailments.

Edit: Information is pretty sketchy on these and what they do. Guess we find out in a couple of days.
