[3.25]g00fy_goober's EleBuzzsaw Deadeye (Easily Clear All Content) *REVAMPED AGAIN*
Isn't point blank more or less same dps for ST on boss fights?
From what I understood, when you throw weapon it has 50% more DMG, when it reaches furthest point it is back to normal DMG and while its returning it gets to 50% less DMG. Now if we take into account that we use slower projectiles for boss fight, and that we stand right next to boss while spamming ST, wouldn't each ST hit boss while shooting out (+50%) and when returning (-50%) so that would mean no net gain in total? If this is true, only advantage to point blank would be clearing trash with first few hits of ST. I have not tested this, just the way I understand how PB works. Hi, I'm looking for this build for 3.0.
Is this build party friendly? Thank you |

" Looks pretty good overall. You still realize that 120 points is like a level 100 build or close to it depending on how many points we get in a9 + a10. Yes it is insane for sure. " It doesn't effect it at all really. I guess that is poor wording, it effects it obviously, you just don't notice it. White trash dies in one hit as it always does and rares might take 2-3 hits depending on if its like enfeeble/bonus life mods on a higher tier map. Plus if there is every an issue with a certain super buff rare or something you just roll on top of him and then fire once and hes splat. " Not at all, the only thing that effects it is the range that the projectile is from you. There is a nifty picture chart I have up on the original post. Since you are standing literally ontop of the boss pretty much and he is right in front of you it gets 50% more damage, the further it travels (which isn't very far with slower projectiles) it does less and less damage, when it returns, it gains more and more damage the closer it gets to you up to 50% more again. Therefore since you are standing ontop of the boss pretty much unless the character model is huge, it gets pretty much 50% more damage when it hits and when it returns. Also works the same for general map clearing and such. So when you shoot across whole screen to kill trash in maps when its stuff on other side it definitely does less damage, but its trash mobs and doesn't really matter much. " Yes, very much so. |

" Is the Wiki entry for point blank wrong? It specifically states that "distance traveled continues to increase as the projectile returns to its point of origin" meaning that damage of projectile should keep decreasing as it is returning.
" That is how it works, yes. The OP is completely wrong about this. Unless he thinks he knows more about Point Blank than Rory, anyway.
" This is actually right. I had no idea it worked like that and I completely misunderstood it when I looked it up. Kind of like what rakaji said, just without being completely rude about it. I know killing things improves a lot when you use this coupled with slower projectiles because the range you shoot out is very very small. S for single target + boss kills, you still get 50% more tapering off to probably about +20% when it hits furthest range maybe +10%, then on return, if it continues to add I can't see it going more than to like -10%. So it is still an overall pretty big increase. As for map clearing and such, it doesn't matter much as everything still dies. So may have been wrong on the mechanics and how it worked, but with slower projectiles it still does a lot more damage. It is also used primarily for shaper/guardians/uber atziri and such. Now I think it will be even bigger because of map bossing have double or more hp so will be used a lot more for map bosses. Easy way to test it yourself, would just cost 1 regret or respect point. Do a boss that is pretty tanky like a vault boss, or one that don't have phases or disappears and such. Do it with slower proj + point blank and time how fast it takes to kill (make sure mods on map don't effect your damage, or boss life or anything like that. Then spec out of it and do the same on another map. The difference is definitely seen. |

Point blank doesn't scale with with skill travel distance, it is always a fixed distance with every skill. So if you're using slower projectiles you might never hit the - side of point blank damage because ST will kinda feel like melee range with slower proj and thus on bosses it will always be MORE dmg.
Cba to line it up with the wiki page image atm but heres my HoWA character using a lvl 20 slower projectiles spectral throw. Judging from the image id say at MAX it could hit the -10% damage mark, but at the end spectral throw hits like 3 times anyway. So even if that is the case, you do more damage anyway. " I wasn't completely rude. I could've been. But if you're going to post a build guide, you really should take more responsibility towards learning how the game's mechanics actually work so you don't spread misinformation. Not that I blame you in any way though; the way you originally said Point Blank works is how a lot of people thought it worked for a while there. It took a post from Rory for it to die out.
Build looks nice. ST was my first build when i started playing PoE few years ago.
I'll consider it as my starter for 3.0. Claw version would be dope for me!
" Thanks for the picture man, and ya I did a lot of the same, really works well with slower projectiles because travel distance is so short. However I do think 1.) Point Blank should be redone to not include travel time back, I think that's pretty dumb but w/e. and 2.) Think they should add a stat in offense screen that tells you how many "units" your skill travels if its a projectile. It says 0-10 units is 50% more dmg blah blah blah. So if we could see in game we could tell exactly where it hits. " Hopefully will update stuff sometime tomorrow if patch notes come out today. |
