[3.14] Flame Golem 101 - Complete Guide To Golemancy, ✔️All Bosses Down, ✔️Necro, ✔️Elementalist

Question about Skin of the Loyal. Why not upgrade it to skin of the lords. Seems to be some pretty good keystones you can pickup, or is it all about that +1 to gems corruption.
Hey,

I am back after an entire league of grinding for golem gear while never actually starting my golem ele/necro.
With 3.8 and the possibility to make the golems aggressiv without the stone, I am almost 100% sure to start with golems and take them all the way through my SSF experience.

I am glad about all the work you put into the guide. Its perfect to read and provides tons of great information! Thank you for that!!

You have alot of work to do before the league starts, with updating all the trees and bringing all new information to the guide, I respect that. But if you have some time, could you invest a few minutes to think about the viability of golemancy (ele or necro) in SSF with all the changes?
Is it better/easier now to start with it?
Is it possible to build a beefy Necro/Ele with Golems and Spectres as main dmg source?
How good will it be in terms of clearspeed and viability through various content?

I plan on starting with necro, lvling with zombie + spectres and changing towards flame golems + spectre after I reach maps. Maybe keep the specter in a 6L and go with a 4L flame golem to support the clear/bossing for the first week.

Could this work? What would you change in the Tree to adapt for missing gems and the fact that I may not get all the uniques in the first weeks. What would you chance orb for?

Maybe you can take a minute to answer my questions, and maybe win a new member of you golem clan! :)

Oh, btw, the Link on the top "3.8 PATCHNOTES AND UPGRADE" wont bring you to the 3.8 post. It redirects me to you 3.7 comment. :)

Either way, thank you for the amazing guide!
Good luck for 3.8 exile!

To see 3.8 passive tree without the PoB thing from mika, everyone can easily see the new passive 3.8 tree on https://www.poeplanner.com/

BTW i am a little but curious, as there are unconnected passive points in the outer rim (like Tranquility, Thunderous Salvos etc, not sure how to reach them (not for this build, just to know)).

i think this is new passsives for oil craft

Hey :)

Thanks for the info! I can at least upgrade the initial skill-tree while waiting for the Gems to be released.

The unconnected passives are related to the league crafts.

Hi :)

Skin of the loyal is generally cheaper and can be corrupted later for the possible +1 level of socketed gems. Skin of the Lords usually costs more, but might have useful node in it. There are maybe 2-3 useful nodes and the armor can't be corrupted for the +1 so finding the right color combination with useful node is very rare.

Hi and thanks for support ^^

There sure is lot of work as GGG spoils the gems just 2 days before the launch. I can at least do initial Skill-tree for now and fix some guide parts about Specters. Your kind words and support means lot to me ^^

SSF can be tricky. I have never played it myself, but some players keep asking about it.

At least GGG added divine cards that give Golems items, so self grinding Golem setup should not be impossible anymore. Build is a lot safer now also, and you can craft most items with Essences, Fossils or Elder item bases. I have quite a few crafting guides about items used in the build already.

Can't you buy most missing gems from library in act 3? Winter Orb can be replaced with Storm Burst as they are both channeling skills. Items will be hard to get, but as Bones or Ullr and Midnight Bargain will be changed, I guess they wont be so important anymore. You can just use rare items in most slots or try to craft something with essences / fossils.

I'm not sure if much has to be changed after all as summoners are very viable in SSF alread. Leveling as Elementalist seems much harder as you don't get 2x Clayshapers anywhere easily. SRS + Zombies seems also like excellent combo.

Guild has been unfortunately full for weeks, but I can check what I can do once league has been going for a week and I start dropping some offliners. PM me later and lets see what happen ;)

Thanks for the tip! I changed it for most recent post. Will edit it later if anything comes up with gem reveals.

Sorry, I was talking about the jewels. I wont be able to get them early. Maybe even not until mid league.
Thats what I was meaning when talking about the missing "gems". Sorry. :D

I would say that default variant got nice buffs from the changes and remains mostly unchanged. However players who want to customize their build, I got great news as they can now do much more variants with added Ascendancy nodes, skill tree nodes and support gems.

I really do think we will see a lot of variations like you mention now. Sure a lot of us used your guide as a base and changed a few things, but I think we will split a lot more now, and that's good, we will prob find so many new little ways to play the build.

I'll have to see how the league content is, but I'm interested in trying out Essence Glutton as my final ascendancy pick, and if it does not preform well, then I'll change it.

I loved pre-nerf Occultist, so last league I tried running wicked ward on the tree, man, nothing compared to what it used to be when Occultist had it.
PoB have update for new tree

Waiting for my main man Mika to update POB - can't wait to see what you do with the new minion nodes.
With the new staff mods giving +2 to spell and +3 to for example fire working globally its now possible to also go for a Chest like skin of the loyal or fossil crafted Elder Chest for +1 support and +1 strength gems.

With that you can go up to a lvl 32 Flame golem, 33 with a +1+1 skin or lvl 34 with a +1 corrupted delve chest with +1 support and +1 strength gems.

5 Gem levels from a staff + some potential minion craft like attack/castspeed

Should outweigh 2 additional golems in terms of damage + 100% loss of buff effect (150 ish life regen and 5% phys mitigation), as buff effect will be sky high allready.

Using 10 harmonys and 1 anima stone lets you get really close to the Cooldown cap without pledge of hands aswell.

Unless 1h Weapons will be better with maybe something like +1 to spells and +2 to fire gems, which will give one additional level to flame golems at the cost of the second 6link.

Unfortunatelly PoB does not yet have the new values for golems above lvl 30 and scales them far weaker then it should but it seems to me that this should perform better then using Flame golems in an elder Bone helmet.

Hey :)

Heh, no problem ^^

I guess the divine cards could give you the jewels quite early with good luck.

Hi :)

Yep, there will be many interesting questions coming from players who try some random combination of Ascendancy / minion nodes and come asking ^^

I'm also very interested in the Essence Glutton, but not sure what I can replace with it. I will be testing is most likely in first few days and checking how well it works. If only we could skip the mindless aggression...

Occultist is unfortunately still dead as a bucket of rocks. I miss the 30% regen also.

Hey :)

Thanks for info! I'm still waiting for the Gems reveal until I really start to work on Pob.

Hey :)

Added initial skill-tree plan at the end of the post. It could however still change after gems will be revealed ;)

Hello :)

Great idea! Stacking plus levels from all items could start new variant.

It would compete directly with Pledge of Hands, but they would work differently.

Pledge shotguns with massive hail of small orbs and can clear very fast thanks to large coverage.

Staff would shoot really strong orbs and have most likely unkillable Golems. I would really like to try that setup on Hall of Grandmasters.

I will have to wait till PoB is out to test the values. I'm still missing the "Pledge of Hands" update on it and working "Elemancer" nodes.

UPDATE

NEW SKILL TREE (PRE -PATH OF BUILDING DATA)

https://tinyurl.com/yxzcbec2

Here's new initial tree with some changes to the original tree.

Original tree survived pretty well through the 3.8.0 rework and doesn't need radical changes. Some nodes were changed in location and we have now more options. I'm pushing towards very defensive setup with default Necromancer, so the tree can be easily modefied to give more DPS if wanted.

"Indomitable Army" has to be taken as minions resistances need to be capped. It now also gives nice physical damage reduction so Minotaur wont be so dangerous to Golems anymore.

"Fearsome Force" gives awesome bonus to Flame Golems. 36% increased area of effect and minion damage will let Golems Orbs Shotgun much more effectively. It could be much higher damage boost than what PoB shows if it really enables 1-2 extra orbs to hit enemy.

"Golem Commander" is interesting node by itself, but it costs 5x nodes to reach it. Nodes leading to it have only +20 INT, Golem life and increased effect from Golems buffs. Also the last node gives damage to the char and not the Golems, so I feel like passing if for now. Maybe builds that use Stone Golems for life regen can already use it in current form.

We also got tons of new minion damage node wheels, but they are pretty far from the main tree and are more specialized for SRS or melee minions. "Fearsome Force" however seems to almost be made for the build, and I'm very excited to test it.

Ascendancy will be focused heavily on defenses stacking block chance, resistances and physical damage reduction. I feel that it's better to create more tanky char with great damage rather than something with 20% more DPS but 50% less defenses. It's also easier to start customizing from extreme towards balance rather from balance towards extreme if wanting changed to the default setup.

Other great news

Long time Poe video creator "LiftingNerdBro" has chosen my build for hes famous "top 5 started builds for league" series again! \o/

Earlier visit in the series was at "Beastiary" league.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQfYPIslpa0&t=264s

After that he picked "Snowybois Ice Golem" build created by "Utopian238" who is also old "Flame Golems 101" -build player. He was also kind enough to mention my ice Golems variant that I created with Utopian ^^

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOquVTX2g9o

First build in the video, about 0:40 mark.

I will link the new video when it's released.

Thanks Mika also - will you be posting the POB once gems come out? Lastly, will you be doing anything differently with the Elementalist variant or is Necro king here? I am mainly asking because early on having access to more golems at ladder reset/new patch is always a lot nicer than going Necro and being stuck with 1 golem early on.

What are your thoughts if I wanted to play this at reset?
