I'm for it. Or cap Ele pen at 50%.

I put it in prime's thread but I think introducing a unique that does this would be cool:

a cap at 50% maximum penetration is fair, not a fan of "can t be penetrated" mod without a big downside.

You could break the elemental resistance can't be penetrated into the three different elements on three different items. An obvious way to place a downside would be rather then capping the resistance at 75% you can't be immune to the elemental status affect associated with the element. Would allow elemental builds to still be viable despite losing their primary damage amplification method. Also would force you into making decisions about cold builds, do you remove their ele pen or do you go immune to freeze/chill to counter them?

Sur, only if they add a 50% less effectiveness for Secondary Damages as well "wink, wink"

But let put Lib salt aside for a bit, what need to be redone is the entire pvp damage formula. Would be easier to introduce that instead of some weird penetration scaling value.

i tested with mikeymo's EA, he was 2 shotting me, he took all the pen in his gear, and he killed ime in 2 shots again. it was funny.

also,

even though there wont be any penetration in game, nothing would change.

EA players will use another multiplier gem instead of fire pen,
same goes for attack builds.

they should fix secondary damages, aoe overlapping first. even though they would fix them, pvp is so broken that any balance attempt would only benefit some already broken builds, or occur any other imbalances that we couldn't think of.

now after pvp changes, we have even less build options. all attack based builds casted out from the scene. melee is long dead, its body is not even stinking anymore. with fw changes ranged attack based builds are totally useless, why would someone invest 1000ex to make a crit build work while we have EA which has x2 damage with 3 times less investment? i saw aayfromkeyboards EA one shotting 20k ES. yeah one fucking shot.(15 GS + carcass +1) even you do invsst on such attack based build, it can be blocked, and EA will still outdps you.

what do we have left?

some zerphi + mom mumbo jumbo,
fireball/arctic breath secondary damage stuff,
EA and miners/trappers oh, hot too. i played with rain of arrow miner / blast rain miner, they ere working great but in the end im so disgusted of the state of pvp, that i dont wanna even make a tree for it.

imo nothing should be capped, but many things should be scaled better and the scaling should not be linear but rather hyperbolic of sorts.

Yeah but you can at least overcap to compensate for EE, nothing you can do about pen.

Also, capping pen or 50% effectiveness is really the only options we have without impacting pve. I don't see them changing pen in the game just for pvp...

They nixed inquisitors just in pvp instead off addressing it across the game. I could see them doing the same with pen as a cap or effectiveness.
