PvP Unique Creation (4 years later, I'm ready to design)

I love all of your ideas, all of them!

The problem is GGG's balance team. They've rekt 2 of my previous ideas.
My first proposal to GGG was a unique skill/support gem that functioned as a pure stat gem (e.g. diablo gems). This was back in 1.3.0-1.4.0 (before jewels came out). They shot it down because they said it breached too many existing game mechanics. fine.... My second proposal to GGG was a green set item. (I even offered to donate another 1K to fund the second part of the set item). Again, shot down due to breaching existing game mechanics. fine....

So here we are today. I definitely hear your thoughts on not wanting to pidgeon-hole an item only for bow users. With that said, if it were to be a quiver, my current favorite idea is to have a quiver that enables dual-wielding (e.g. a bow of entropy.... boWings of Entropy?). This way, bow users can get more DPS than with rearguard while still activating block mechanics.

As far as non-bow/quiver related uniques, I really do like the suggestions on manipulating charge mechanics, as well as the secondary damage mitigation. However, I don't think secondary damage will remain in this game. It's just an obtuse system with inconsistency to core game mechanics. We saw what GGG did to the critical strike system just to make it less convoluted. It's just a matter of time.

One problem of making the pvp-unique too awesome is that it'll literally be a mandatory slot for anyone playing PVP. Which means, in the end, it'll be as if no one is wearing it (since everyone has it).

because the game engine forbid you to do that.

the thing is dual wield bow in real life is not possible, i feel like they are going to resist to that big time. you can make a 'crossbow' which counts as dualwield i think. that's the way. this would cancel the yummy suffixes of the quivers then.

i'm sad but you're right 100%. after seeing these ridiculous 650 ES titanium shields being crafted on essence league, it makes me wonder if we can get a high-ES quiver (a fated soulstrike?)

Lets assume GGG will fix everything at some point and pvp will be "balanced". At this point the main defences will be dodge and block.

So if you want to make an offensive pvp unique, have the item interact with high block/dodge chance. A trigger/effect (spell/skill/slow/dot?) of some sort when the enemy blocks/dodges as an example.

If you want to make a defensive pvp unique, have it enhance block or dodge in an exciting manner (can't come up with an example atm).

I really doubt there are many other areas in pvp that are actually worth creating a unique around (in the long run).

How about an amulet with a white gem slot, with as special property a link to all other items & and some kind off balancing stats to compensate for this awesomeness (less damage is the most obvious one, others possible as well, ...).

I'd use it any characters whose pve gear doesn't have a free green slot for the antiblock gem.

How about a Unique Jewel that says something along the lines of "if an enemy blocks/dodges/or is somehow immune to your damage," instead they take 33%

Obviously wording and the actual % need to be balanced/corrected but it would prevent builds falling entirely off the board because of immunity. Like Poison VS CI, or bleed VS death's door, etc.
