Thanks much. Think I may try without EE.

One question: How are you people getting 4 blue links on pure strength armour? I can vorici 3B, but how do you get BBBBRR?

3ex worth of chromatic orbs XD (no, not a joke).

heheh ok that's what I thought. OK, so much for "budget" for me ... ;.)

If you look at my gear, I'm using a hybrid armour/es chest for a reason.

Been playing all night, having fun with the regen and the life. Managed to get lucky and quickly snag the shield and doon cuebiyari for a few chaos.

I was messing around with cleave and then someone gave me a Wideswing unique, that + sweep was the easiest time to 35ish I've ever had (with The Magnate from stash).

For the tree I figured rush for the good nodes first, so I went down to the duelist first and then going up into the witch area. I have learned something important: marauder is dumb as a bag of rocks. Been dealing with a huge bottleneck of not having enough int for ray and firestorm. Only now after an hour or two have I been able to get enough levels for enough int so I can start casting, and now that the levels of my skills have almost caught up as well it seems like it's finally going to over take Wideswing + sweep in terms of clear speed.

The other issue I'm having is that the health pool and regen have been so strong for the first 40 levels that I'm severely undergeared and taking a lot of damage from things in Cruel because I don't have enough resists. Currently level 47 with Realmshaper staff with ray and firestorm.

3 skill points away from Retribution Node which gives +spell damage, other than that everything is going smooth. Kind of a bummer that I don't get righteous fire for so long but it's not that bad. Jumping into mobs and using sweep has been fun.
First marauder died, now on second hc breach marauder with this build. Learned a lot the first time and now that I'm actually using skills like Immortal Call and Enduring Cry as well as I was able to use Scorching Ray + Firestorm + Cast While Channeling immediately at level 38 and have been doing well so far.

Reading back 10 pages, I saw some alternate passive builds and decided to put some effort into reading things. Kind of took my own spin on things since I'm hoping this will be my super-lazy-farm-things-to-build-other-chars char. Plan is to build purely for RF burning damage and see how that turns out.

Passive tree is pretty simple, if you search for fire damage there are 2 clusters. If you search for burning damage there is 1 cluster. Searching for regen and life is also the same, so the tree kind of builds itself.

This is what I'm planning on as the core, what I'll aim for first. After that it'll be passives that improve radius and I want to have flammability either as an aura (lazier is better) or with Cast when Damage Taken. If it's an aura then I might see how Sovereignity works so I can run Flammability/Vitality/Purity of Fire.

I was also thinking that since I can't put fire pen on RF (is the logic of reducing enemy resists always better than +dmg still true here?) then I was thinking why not have CWDT + Frost Nova (low level) with EE for maximum -fire res?

I just want to be lazy and run around and everything dies around me, this might not do the most damage but it gets all the +fire damage passive as well as +burning damage passive.

Problems I'm having is that I need the +30 dex and int nodes to use firestorm and faster attacks, also I had RRRG for my boots with scorching ray so I put in Culling Strike (which is working quite well, not sure how much better fire pen would be) and as that levels up the dex requirements also go up. Is there any decent way to deal with these stat requirements (dex is the hardest right now, very little in passive tree) that I might not know of? I'm just getting back into the game so I don't really know the uniques or anything about crafting.
Hi, I'm working on this build since the first one didn't work out very well.
I'm currently at level 69 and have most of the gear you mentioned but somehow the RF still manages to burn all my HP.
I will try to post some images of my gears since I'm new to this forum and I don't know how to.

OK I finally figured out what was wrong, I forgot to turn on Purity of Fire and Vitality.
Just a few questions:
1/ What do I need more to reach 7k to 9k HP?
2/ How do I reach 44k damage with Molten Shell?
Thanks.

Your build needs EE and EO, and I assumed you will pick them up as each of them as a multiplier is way more than all the burning nodes combined.

The thing is that your build is fairly similar to other builds that go toward the Templar side instead of building toward the witch side. Your build is really choosing to sacrifice endurance charges and jewel sockets for the additional burning damage(and you will lose even more for going for sovereignty. This means your survivability will take a big hit, and losing out on jewel sockets means that you aren't gaining quite as much from the damage side. Remember that you can get jewels that roll double damage mod+life on them, meaning that each gem socket is really equivalent to 3+ nodes on the passive tree.

To give hard numbers, a low roll jewel can give 14% fire damage, 10% area damage, and 5% life. If you have two of those jewels, then the 4 points spent into Explosive Impact will give less DPS than spending 4 points into getting jewels. A high roll pure damage jewel can roll 16% Fire, 12% area, and 10% damage(and is also probably prohibitively expensive). Yes, explosive impact gives 5% radius but you also gain 10% life from those poorly rolled jewel as well. You spend 9 points to pick up 125% damage(I'm not counting points to travel to and get Purity of Flesh). Those 9 points if they were spent to get 4-5 jewel sockets would give you just as much damage and a lot more survivability.

You could potentially go for jewel sockets right after but the big thing is that you do so at a serious cost to endurance charges. Having those charges is a big boost to your survivability(increased immortal call duration, general life regen per node, etc). Sacrificing them for more damage is going to heavily limit the upper tier you can lazily farm.

Until you can afford good damage rolled jewels your build is fine but the moment you can you will want to respec out of the burning damage nodes and get those jewel sockets instead.

Informative, thank you. I just started playing a week ago and last I played was when vaal orbs were new so I don't know a lot of the new things, now I can see why everyone wants as many jewel sockets as possible.

On my 3rd one in hc breach, doing really well so far. I'm writing this moments after hitting 65 so now I gotta figure out how I can get RF going asap.

Yea, the big thing about jewels is the well rolled ones are expensive. Getting 2 damage stats on a jewel will be very cheap(Fire Damage+Area Damage is probably no more than 1-5 chaos each) but I expect that a Damage/Damage/Life gem would be upwards of 20 chaos, and a tri-damage one would be even more. But still, even just a dual damage jewel is still going to give you a lot and lets you flex your build much more easily than those passive points are. If you run 6 sockets with double damage rolled jewels(very cheap to get that), and run into an issue of survivability, it won't be hard to switch all of them to Life+Damage rolls instead and just suddenly gain 30% max life.
I have a kaom's heart that I got for dirt cheap, how should i do the gem links if I were to use kaom's heart?
