Off topic - Dreamfeather Spectral Throw Defenses
Spoiler

In case anyone is interested, here are some defensive stats from Mathil's Dreamfeather Spectral Throw.

Fully buffed with Auras and Flasks active:
58140 Evasion Rating
78% chance to evade attacks
40% chance to dodge attacks
44% chance to dodge spells
134% movement speed

Mathil went Pathfinder to abuse flasks (almost always up).

On top of the defenses mentioned above, the smoke cloud created by his Witchfire Brew Stibnite flask comes into play (inflicting blind and the attendant 50% less chance to hit).

It's pretty crazy really. He does so well against Guardians and other endgame content because he evades/dodges so much damage.

Mathil's build looks pretty cool. I've always wanted to give spectral throw a try. Perhaps after I get 40/40 I'll look into this build.

Any information about your second build.

I'm doing what essentially amounts to a slightly modified version of ZiggyD's Reach of the Council poison setup. (Update: Dark Forest / Core down, but not deathless. PEBCAK?)

So far I've only struggled with getting Twinned Otesha in Sulphur Wastes, and I believe it was Berrots in Overgrown Ruin (T13, T15 respectively).

My dps isn't what I would like it to be but my divine luck has been terrible and I definitely haven't min-maxed the gear, but it's performing well in most situations.

Still haven't tried Dark Forest, Core, Abyss, Colosseum, Vaal Temple, or any of the Guardians.

What I can tell you (friend of mine tagged me in for a Shaper kill) is that there's no way CA can handle that fight in an MF setup. You would need to completely redo it for a dps version, and with the changes to monster life in 2.4 this build now struggles with T15 monster life (bosses only) as well.

I have a couple other possible builds in mind but if you really want to crush T15+, at this point I can only recommend BV Pathfinder or Hank's Wartems build. The TShot Poison handles well, but I have yet to test it v Guardians.

thanks a lot. i stay in stuttgart/germany for this weekend so i cant lvl a second toon. But with
this its funny now to play with gems high enaught and the carcass.
But the most funny (not) rip was if i tried this map with the statue who stands in act 3 bevor lab (dont know the map anymore) and i rolled the map boss has x % attac speed and multiple projectiles. i come in the room and died bevor i can do anything. then i tried another time and with the attack speed and multiple projektiles i have no place to stay and died another 3 times. so it was a learning experience :-)
More mechanics abuse shown by the Worminator.
That flask spam.

so I'm about 1.5ex into regal spam on my 6L maraketh bow trying to get sharpshooters +2... does anyone have the math for how many regals it usually / absolutely will take? I'm new at this and it's really discouraging! What about if I forget about dual resists, how many alts does it take instead?

I looked for an online calculator and didn't find a costing one. Does anyone know of one?
You should expect 60-120 regals, RNG dependent.

If you don't want dual res, you can hit +2 and craft from there with 80 or so alts.

I just do the following to make dual resistance bows. It's a modified "method two" from the bow crafting methods outlined on the first page of this post.

This method costs several exalts. So make sure you have a nice white 6-link bow to work with (Maraketh highly preferred for movement speed).

1. Alt/aug until +2 to bow gems along with any suffix. Aug for a prefix if necessary to fill both the prefix (+2) and suffix slots for a blue.
2. Regal. If you get a suffix continue. If not, scour and go to step 1.
3. Mastercraft "Cannot Roll Attack Mods" (Caterina 8, 1ex) - this is a suffix
4. Exalt the bow. Since at the end of step 3, all 3 suffix mods are filled, a prefix is forced and the exalt is guaranteed to roll +1 to gems
5. Remove "Cannot Roll Attack Mods"
6. Mastercraft "Prefixes Cannot Be Changed" (Haku 8, 2ex)
7. Scour - this will remove everything except your prefixes (+1 gems and +2 bows)
8. Mastercraft "Can have multiple Crafted Mods" (Elreon 8, 2ex)
9. Mastercraft increased damage over time and 2 resists

Note: If you don't have a lot of currency you can stop at step 5 and simply mastercraft increased damage over time. Later you can upgrade the bow using Haku to remove unwanted suffixes (steps 6-9). These last few steps will cost 4ex plus crafting fees (probably 30c or so).

Some more thoughts on Magic Find, OP builds, Getting 40/40 and whatever.

Most of this isn't CA specific, so I've spoilered it.
Spoiler

Hankinsohl's tips to "I win" in the Atlas Leagues:

Step 1: Roll CA Magic Find. Follow this excellent guide. Save up currency.
Step 2: Choose a build that will absolutely crush end game content. My personal choice for this league is a build utilizing The Harvest, high life, and which abuses leech/flask mechanics.
Step 3: Use the currency you generate from MF to fund your OP build.
Step 4: Using your OP build, get 125 map completion on Atlas. Atlas completion bonus is nuts. With high completion bonus it's totally possible to sustain Tier 14+ maps *and* profit while doing so.
Step 5: Run the highest level maps you have available. Make sure to chisel/chaos for packsize and quantity. You'll drop more than enough maps to make it worth your while to do this.
Step 6: Farm Guardians/Shaper and possibly Uber Atziri.

You'll make a ton of currency this way; you'll see all the content; and it will be fun.

Good luck fellow exiles.
===========

For the record, I did not follow the recommendations listed above. Instead I immediately rolled triple-totem, non-crit Ancestral Warchief. Not optimal. But, I have pretty good map completion, and a nice (but not optimal) build for farming Guardians/Shapers.

My plan is to hit 40/40 challenges and then roll CA magic find along the lines of this guide and use that to fund a truly broken build - Worminator's build based on The Harvest.

============
Some other thoughts:

GGG does, IMO, a very nice job at achieving balance each league. And they're getting better.

Blizzard, in World of Warcraft, by contrast, was horrible at this. Absolutely horrible.

Nonetheless, POE is extremely complex - so many builds/variants. It's invariable that GGG fails to balance some builds/mechanics.

So in each league, some builds will be awful - others will be hugely OP.

Me - I'm an average player. Maybe a bit better than average.

I totally suck at some of the dodging mechanics - Uber labs is a total pain for me.

Yet, I'm competitive. Very competitive.

And I like to think that I'm "smarter than the average bear." LOL - you may disagree.

So my plan this league (and most others) - is to accumulate currency rapidly without living in trade chat. If you love trading, you can accumulate much, much more currency just by trading nonstop than by any other means in the game - but for me, this is way too boring.

For me, Serelth's CA build is the best for wealth generation using magic find - I like Serleth's build because it's much more fun than sitting in trade chat and the build generates quite a bit of wealth - more than sufficient for my purposes.
=====
I personally like to do things myself. I don't like purchasing challenges that involve skill.

But I have no problems whatsoever purchasing challenges that involve RNG.

"Claim these Essences" - totally RNG. I purchased that - and got help for Serleth - thanks!

"Kill the Guardians" and "Kill Shaper" - these are skill/build based. I want to do these on my own if possible.

So, my general plan each league, after getting enough currency, is to roll something that's either totally broken OP or is at least much more powerful than other builds.

That way I can compensate for my slightly above average gameplay to complete the "skill-based" or "build-based" challenges.
===========

Some players simply want to achieve 40/40 each league as fast as possible, by whatever means.

ChronoDroid - who seems to have skipped this league - falls into this category. I'm in awe of how fast CD completes 40/40 each league.

I lose focus - doing lots of stuff that doesn't contribute towards challenge completion - CD, and others like him, stay focused. Everything they do goes towards challenge completion.

Yet for me, and others like me, 40/40 is still possible. Which is why POE is such a good game.

Thanks for your thoughts, and compliments, and you're welcome =)

CD is playing, he just had a late start. He's 24/40 atm.

My mentality is roughly along the line of yours. Save that I'll buy skill challenges if I have to in order to 40/40 faster and then go back and make sure I can do it myself later. Or at least try, but I don't like to do completely broken builds to get it done. I like doing it with proper skill builds, because inevitably the broken stuff gets fixed.

Score Malachai 3:Hank 2 in twinned core, LOL. Don't think I like twinned on that map.

On the other hand, some guy was trying to form a group for twinned core and was confident that it was doable reliably in a 6-man. So I guess just wait for the appropriate group to form and tag along.
