Nerf to CWDT was absolutely needed. Was ridiculously OP, and it will still be strong after the patch IMO.

The qq'ing over certain high end uniques only dropping in the highest ilevels was needed IMO, and thankfully GGG listened.

However many people love CWDT because it allows them to faceroll content. It elevates people to god mode. Where's the challenge in that?

What the hell are you talking about CODT is a UTILITY GEM all it did was removed the need to press 3 buttons while fighting every 10 seconds or so thats all
nothing has been removed from the game other than convenience.

It is 100% true that its a nerf to fun as it has zero impact on character power any-one saying that the gem was OP has no understanding of what the gem did.

The easiest fix was to have all gems linked to it do zero damage.

EXACTLY my thoughts, they had so many ways to change this gem,,,
like this
lvl 1 dmg threshold 30% of max hp - dmg penalty 50%
lvl 20 dmg threshold 10% - dmg penalty 75%
or this
same as current but add "linked gems can activate once each 6 sec
So you would actually

Agree but CoDT is not only fun and convenient. It solves in some way the HUGE Desync problem, especially for melee characters.

You cant use Cyclone for instance and stop attacking in order to cast a skill. If you add desync problems, you will die immediately. You get teleported all the time in random places thx to desync, so there is no space to stop attacking and cast skills.

So imo there are 3 options for GGG

1. Leave CoDT as it is
2. Make Buff skills instant cast
3. FIX DESYNC!
This is NOT beta anymore, these types of game changers should NOT happen.
All I get from this is sooner or later all the work I've put into my character will come undone!
Okay thanks for the clarification guys. GGG this does seems harsh.

For example I have only 1 toon on Domination, and got my CODT as a quest reward. I have actually been leveling my CODT gem as I progress, and is currently level 12 which is level 53 requirement.

So after patch my Enduring Cry and Motlen Shell, which I got earlier in my travels and are therefore higher level will not cast at all unless I scour.

That is harsh, and Scouring orbs suddenly will be hoarded.

How about if the Level Requirement on a gem supported by CODT is above the current level requirement on the CODT, that gem will cast at the level at or just below the requirement on the CODT? So say I have level 12 CODT (equates to level 53), and my Level 16 Enduring Cry (equates to level 60) will instead cast at whatever level Enduring Cry is at when it requires level 53.

The way this nerf is being implemented I feel like I'm being penalized through no fault of my own...I've been trying to level my CODT gem in good faith, but I just got it later than my other gems I am using it as a support to. It's harsh that I literally have to scour the progression I've made on those gems simply b/c I've had them longer.

Please reconsider how you are implenting this nerf. Thanks.

Ok I'm confused on CODT changes. Could someone clarify for me?

Example:
Let's say I have a Level 5 CODT combined with level 11 Molten Shell, level 8 Enfeeble and level 2 Immortal Call

Outcomes after patch:
A) All supported gems cast as level 5, with exception of the Immortal Call which is still level 2.
B) Only Immortal Call is able to cast, the other skills are unusable until the CODT is the same level as the respective gems.

IMHO, Outcome A is acceptable and probably a good nerf. Outcome B is super harsh and will lead to some craaaaaaazy inflation in price of Scouring Orbs.

well, neither, necessarily. it's limited by the level REQUIREMENT of the gem, not the level of the gem. so if youre using a level 1 cwdt gem, it can cast any ability that requires level 31 or below. I'd have to look up what skill has what level requirement at what gem level, but yes, it doesnt automatically delevel what it casts for you, it just wont cast it if it exceeds the requirements.

so to use a lavel 1 Molten Shell with CWDT you need a level 2 CWDT.
For a level 17 MS (requires lvl 62) you need a lvl 17 CWDT (requires lvl 63). Sounds like a great fix. Time to level your CWDT instead of abusing its level progression.

great post. someone who doesnt even understand how the gem works, or how it will work, says it's a good fix. don't post about things you know absolutely nothing about

Funny thing is, I have a level 17 Molten Shell linked to a level 17 CWDT (because unlike you, I realized that this gem is going to be great for my build, even when it gets inevitably nerfed). And it works just fine after I have taken 2520 damage my (level 17) Molten Shell and my (level 17) Enduring Cry and my (level 17) Rejuvenation Totem all trigger.

So get your "facts" straight before you reply.

if that was true, you would know that you'll be able to cast a level 1 MS with a level 1 CWDT, in fact you'll be able to cast it up to level 7 MS with level 1 CWDT. I accept your apology.

Good stuff, Chris!

It'll be a fun challenge trying to come up with effective uses for CODT instead of the previous "easy mode" state it was in. Anyone with a lick of common sense knew it would be changed, so tough luck for those who based their build around its broken function.

Time to man up & adapt, folks.

If your definition of manning up is to get back to recasting 3 boring/noninteractive spells each time you engage big pack than there is something weird in the air, the only reason they nerfed CoDT is because some shifty stramers abused it with dmging spells. This gem was designed for the very purpose of "automating" boring task of casting some supportive spells as it was shown in the BOTW spotlight, and you know it.

The original approach didn't work out for obvious reasons, so they'll get back to the drawing board and come up with something else. This is an ever evolving game, so getting tits up in a knot about ever happening changes is ridiculous.

Except Chris said they will not mess with big changes during existing ladder/season. They made a big change and unjustified. Hear me out, this gem is accesible to any1 as it is quest reward, sooner or alter every1 had the opportunity to get their hands on 1, we are not talking about game-breaking KAOM that turned some into semi-deities while others could only dream about it, the great thing was EVERY1 could in some way utilize this gem, and it automatized boring taksks that slowed the game to a degree that you started wondering if you are still playing ARPG or turn based gamae. I AM NOT SAYING THAT CURRENT ITERATION IS PERFECT , but it was perfect when it came to lifting the burden of casting essential but boring spells.
We failed once, We failed twice, We must fail again!

WE'll b@ng ok?
Thank you for the CODT change. It has helped fix a no-brainer skill that everyone could use with no drawbacks.

Every char was made better by the previous version of it, which is pointless in the long run, seeing as it is an inflation of sorts. Stronger char = need for stronger monsters.

This at least somewhat balances the spell, but in some way this skill still makes every character stronger, with little thought to individual builds or playstyles. In order to fully balance it, the mana cost of the proc effects should NOT be free.
