1.0.1 Patch Notes

Good riddance to CotD
Anyone who couldn't see that the node was going to get nerfed was blind, and frankly, thats a very good way it was done. I'm going to be able to sell those gems I leveled up preemptively because I suspected a change just like this one :)
Will skillpoints get reseted after the new patch? anyone knows?
1. Yay! Better map drops! (unless the gain is too small to notice). My highest lvl map is 74 maze and ive been playing since january :D
2. Aww. CwDT doesnt proc like a machinegun. Interesting, id rather have my molten proc occasionally then, better to have it less than not at all.
3. Specific element resist auras, i can see myself using them in specific hard situations, nice.
4. Mortal Conviction, might be viable if you get all reduce mana reserve nodes in the skill tree (46%) . I wonder what character makes this investment for few auras, maybe for all auras?

All the best for GGG!

I wanted so badly to rage, scream, whine and cry over this change to CWTD. I did, really. My main is a Double Strike/Multistrike Marauder at level 55 just starting Merciless, and at first look, wow, this breaks my character.

But, I took a step back, and went to the wiki to confirm what those two remaining brain cells in my head were screaming WAIT about. (I grew up in the 70's and 80's, I'm surprised I have two brain cells left! :D )

Cast When Damage Taken fires when you take a total damage of X damage. When you reach that total, it fires. So, even at level 17 of the gem (highest level listed on the wiki) I only have to take 2520 damage cumulatively. Sounds terribad, if you are thinking you have to take all that damage in a single hit. If I'm right, that isn't the case. Say in battle 1, you take hits from the mob pack of 1520 damage. Now you go on to battle 2, you only have to take 1000 more damage for the gem to fire. If you're running life leech, and by the time you're hitting gems this high, you should be, you will be healing far more than this amount all the time. (Ridiculous example, I know, as at that level, mobs hit way harder than that...)

Now, I'm a newbie, and I may be wrong on how the calculation is done to fire the gem. If it is 2520 damage in a single hit, then it is a seriously bad nerf. If I'm right, there shouldn't be a problem with how the gem works on defensive skills... offensive skills will be hurt, but from the videos I've seen of offensive skills with this gem, I join the elitist rude guys in saying good riddance.

How about to buff "Mind over Matter" ?

That 30% are mostly useless as a solo player, and i use the new Unique Cloak of Defiance with another 10% When Hit.

I would sugguest 60%-80% on "Mind over Matter". But add it should only prevent DMG from Life and not from Energy Shield.

Remember Energy Shield Sorc from D2 that was AWESOME.

And its a new Build enabler.

And i know it already gives Energyshield in this game, but not one that absorbs DMG from healt to mana.

Mind over matter is actually pretty op.

Hmm at the moment i'm level 53 and EB with much mana regen and Cloak of Defiance, but i didnt notice much of an effect. Maybe its more effective in Merciless.

ah bummer about the CwDT gem. game has never felt this fluid for melee in the years i've been playing and i felt like a lot of it is attributed to the current state of that gem. i'd rather it didn't get nerfed even though it's a bit OP. it just makes the game more fun to play especially for melee.

When will u implement cutthroat league as a permanent league cant wait.... what is holding u guys ???
More than 80 completely crap and useless gems...

¡Let's nerf the one people are enjoying the most!
cast when stunned heh? nice plan lolz ..not! what if you specced into unwavering stance the cast on stun is as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike jeeeez.

For the players who have to best gear ingame with 21321315235234 ex rotting in their stash the cast on CoDT nerf is nothing but for the players who just started doing maps for example trying to get gear the CoDT nerf is actually a blow the the b*lls. and what about the awesome desync that still exist why not apply all that brain power you currently use to nerf anything that actually helps you not to like go REEEP and try to fix the desync or atleast try to minimiza it? no? didnt think so

Now what I see will happen to me in a very shot period of time I predict this Saterday I will reeep btw I play a very hard desync skill and CoDT actually saved my life more then 232 times now it requires 2.5k+(dont care what the real value is pfft) to proc it ok..now I go pewpew in some maps I get the worse desync I ever experienced and I take a sjit load of damage example the ROA train to the groin now 2.5k CODT procs but that 1.5k or something absorb dmg from molten shell is not gonna help you much and like I say I am desynced so I dont notice or cant see my HP dropping like rabbit poo and where pre-CoDT would have saved my life the second time I are dead REEEEEEEEEEEEP xD

A fair number of people are misunderstanding the change to Cast when Damage Taken. A level 1 CwDT gem can support higher than level 1 versions of other gems. It's the level requirement that is checked, not the actual level.

We've tested many, many builds with this change and most characters still gain a lot of benefit from the skill. We'll keep an eye on how it performs after the patch hits and will adjust balance further (the damage thresholds, potentially) based on data.

Whats the difference? You still have to level it up in order to use it with a our level 18+ molten shells, enduring cries, and curses...
