" I would just view it as step 1) in a larger balance move. Everybody uses auras, they are central to balance. Right now a lot of people use them in ways that they weren't designed to be used. If they balance around the auras in their current broken state, then we end up with a really messy balance situation. If they fix the auras first so that people are at least using them the way they are intended to be used, that's a huge step forward in terms of balance. I personally am expecting either CI nerfs or life buffs down the road, but I doubt it's going to happen immediately, these things take time. Either way, with auras becoming "cleaner" it will only make future balance changes both easier and more permanent. |

" EDIT: whatever man, if you say dropping one aura reduces your DPS by 33% (from 15K to 10K), then OK. It'a real shame to have an armour worth 20+ Exa but not having enough sockets for all auras. " lol @ crying with kaoms ... seriously, lol. You have 8k hp and cry cuz you need to reserve a couple 100 more life? Had i know beforehand, I would have instantly labelled you a troll. lol @ aura being 1/3 of your dps, I have a tank marauder and those are known for not having so much dps, and STILL the damage auras are just a complement, not a huge part of my dps. lol @ getting all your armor from grace, this just proves the problem with players abusing IR. Cant you get at least a single hybrid ar / es piece? 'this only makes game more unbalanced' ... why on earth you say this? reserving an extra 300-400 hp or losing one aura is not the end of the world. Unless you get hit for all your hp bulb by every mob in the game. |

Lets clear a few things up. Deize died because he was too cocky to take WED out on an elemental reflect map. End of story.
As far as using alpha's howl to buff an extra % or using covenant to save hundreds of hp buffing mana reserve auras off your hp pool, it isn't cheating because the game allows it (at least it currently does) and it's basically a requirement for most builds that are viable in hardcore. Why is it a requirement you ask? Well I'll tell you. First lets take EK mara(or whatever else). EK has been nerfed. It's damage is pretty pathetic compared to other skills. it's certainly usable solo, but it is slow and definitely a second or third tier choice. I play EK at the moment without a Kaoms, I do not have that high of an hp pool. If I have to buff grace and discipline off a BM gem, I will lose another 400hp probably, around 10% extra of my maximum hp. With my character having a play time over 40 days without dying, it's safe to say that at least 1 time in there that 400hp would have been the difference between hardcore and standard. Now you may not care. You might think I should "get better gear" or "farm more" or whatever BS thing you might have to say, but the reality is I have to use these buffs to survive in the first place because I play in a league where I cannot die and even with all these buffs and gear that is probably better than most of you will ever have, I'm still at risk quite often. Now lets look at alphas howl. If I am reduced to 3% buffs because I don't have alphas, I can either waste 3 passives to get that 4th (which I'd probably end up doing) or I'd lose Hatred which is a massive part of my already pathetic dps. And to get hatred I have to give up some form of other survivability. Now that might not be a huge problem for me at lvl 94 (almost 95), but someone with 10 to 15 fewer passives then I have is in quite a predicament. All of this applies to other HP based builds. Because it is so much more difficult for gear and currency to be accumulated in hardcore, and for mirrorable items to appear, it is much harder for us to gear to the point where we can compete with those that don't really care if they die or not. Now once again, you may not care about hardcore, or about how serious we take it, and how we try to min max every little thing because you can die at any point in this game, but most of these suggestions I've seen, like use Blood magic keystone (a complete joke in hardcore endgame) are just ignorant. Deize's point as I see it is that the people who won't really be affected by this are CI builds, who can achieve high ES pools and armor with shields and whatnot, effectively making them more effective Kaoms characters. Removing these "cheats" as some of you feel they are further diminishes the viable end game specs. I would say that fewer build options is not a positive direction for Path of Exile. TL;DR. Deize is bad. These items allow for the use of needed buffs in hardcore. They reduced the dependency on Kaoms heart of CI builds. They allow for greater build diversity and, game progression and enjoyment for players. The reality is that removing my ability to buff off my hp for less, or gain that extra % buff off my mana, will force me and everyone else "on my level" into CI specs. We will still succeed, but the game will feel more shallow while doing so. |
