Ice Shot

Shouldn't the ground ice portion of this skill be affected by the duration gem and passives?


Edit: Got my ranger high enough level to try out the skill duration passives. Those increase the duration, but not the increased duration gem. I'm assuming that's a bug.

Yes, I believe it should.
Im not sure what other people think but i feel the Quality bonus of this gem is lackluster. Middle to endgame your attack speed is high enough that the Quality bonus has no effect as new arrows are hitting the target so often. Which constantly applies the slow ice ground.

I propose a change to the Quality effect, what about increase the radius of the Cone behind the initial target?
Yeah, or even +% to freeze enemy on hit would be neat
Yes the quality bonus is definately useless. Anything hit by Ice Shot will already be chilled, and anything not hit by it won't be close enough to move into the ground effect before it vanishes. Actually, the ground effect could be completely removed and the function of the skill would not change.

The quality's good for killing bosses where you have to dodge around a lot. I'm hoping to get my hands on a ranged attack totem and stick GMP, Chain and Ice Shot in it to perma-chill everything. In my case, the quality bonus would be excellent.
The framerate drop due to Iceshot is ridiculous, really hoping GGG will implement a "lower particle" setting so that players with less powerful machines won't be tanked by glacial hammer / ice shot / poison arrow etc.

This skill was missing the Duration skill type, I've just added it now. Thanks for the report, you can expect this to work in 0.10.1 at the latest.
I must say this attack is working wonders for me now. However there are some issues that could be improved. I agree with most people that the quality bonus is pretty much irrelevent. I am always dissapointed by quality bonuses that know cares about or trys to trade for. It should be improved or changed in one way or another. Another big issue for me with this skill is the FPS issue. I don't experience frame rate drops with many skills but this one is pretty bad for me. I'd like to see many a new skin for this skill or something less complex because lmp + fork is hurting my frame rates right now. I have also experienced this much worse when firing towards the bottom of the screen. I'm not sure why this would occur but it has been my experience. I have started running past mobs on the lower portion of the screen and firing upwards as a work around.

TL;DR: Overall a great AoE skill this far with a FPS issue and pretty usless quality bonus.


This skill has much improved FPS in today's patch, anyone else notice this?
