PoE2 has very few viable builds, why are patch notes nothing but nerfs?

I waited for the 0.5 patch notes to see what builds get enabled.

Nothing new got enabled. We only got nerfs severely crippling all builds. But no new builds came out of this patch.

Been 0laying POE 1 since 2012......and all I can say: get used to it. I don't see anything changing for POE2. As to why: no one knows, not even GGG

Same, i have been playing PoE1 for 10 years. But there are "A LOT" more viable builds in PoE1.

PoE2 is severely lacking viable builds to play. I blame this on Jonathan's COMBO system because it severely restricts how many skills you can play since they all clump together and if one skill is bad the whole combo of skills is bad.

Since the whole stupid COMBO system isn't going away, at least make generating infusions/charges for them a very easy process.

Too many skills are dead in the water because there is no reliable way to generate infusion/charges for them.

Until a MASSIVE PATCH come to address massive buffs to generating infusions/charges, a lot of skills in PoE2 will remain dead.
I have played only 120 hours of POE1
But in POE2 I already have 900 hours played since 0.1 dropped

I played three monks, 1 amazon, 1 Druid and I tested the waters of the mercenary, Sorceress and Rangers

Out of all of these, I found Monk to be more of my style, even though Amazon & Druid are the highest characters that I ever had ( lvl 91 & lvl 88 )

That being said, I do find the Monk to be cumbersome until I reach Act 3, too many combos, too many buttons and too sluggish and the build diversity if weird for Monk, at least for me

This is my experience
I cannot really compare it to POE1 since I played so little of it
But I do agree that I would like more build diversity for all classes.

I looked at poeninja website and I was shocked at how little build diversity is out there.

People play the same build for around 70% or so, at least that's what I saw on poeninja

I deleted two monks from my character list but now that we have a third ascedency for the Monk, I will definately play Monk Martial Artist in update 0.5

I think I'll try the Mercenary again after I bring my monk in endgame, but I would definatelly like some more good build alternatives for all classes

I mean, just look at this,

So many Bloodmages and Oracle builds (I went for the Shaman Druid so I am in the 8% category) , but look at how little Chayulla builds are out there, or Chronomancer, Gemling Legionaire etc...

The reason outliers get nerfed, instead of everything else being brought up to that standard is obvious.

If they buffed everything across the board, then either the game becomes trivial (look at diablo 4/last epoch for examples), or they also have to buff the entire environment, thus nullifying any of the prior changes.

Therefore it logically follows that putting in 20x more work into not changing anything is not a viable solution.
I hope this is not too hard to understand, and I don't need to explain further.

edit:
I also disagree with your premise. There are many viable builds in this game, they are just weaker than the outliers, which is another reason for why the latter need to be nerfed.

The problem is that they usually nerf stuff that is not top end. Like this patch for example: they neefed a bunch of melee stuff, but left twister untouched; and with what we've seen from the new Spirit Walker, Twisters will be OP thia league.

The meme keeps on giving: something spell or projectile is OP? Nerf warrior.

I don't partake in speculation; skill gems haven't been posted, and these notes cannot be viewed in a vacuum. Stop reiterating hot takes.

I also don't see any major warrior nerfs here. Shield wall got brought down a bit, and deservedly so, and some of the skills got their dmg readjusted after having their animations shortened. That's about it.

Lastly consider the fact that these types of games are always going to be about playing whack-a-mole in terms of balancing. Even if they nerf what you think is going to be OP in the next few days, something else is going to take their place.
That does not mean that everything else is non-viable.

To "encourage" trade, which is the one thing this game must get rid of.

Lol... totally forgot about the patch notes coming today while playing something else...

So, I looked up my build from last league and it didn't even got touched (nerf wise), instead... Blood Mage got even a small buff. I think with a few runic supports I've already seen I got actually more out of this patch than before.

Don't think "no new builds came out of this" will hold true... alone the uniques will birth many new builds.
