sure but it would weed out the people who play 1 hour and make 100x more than you because they use 4 multi accounts to follow them around in maps for extra loot

thats not true at all - just on average.

The beauty of ARPGs is that you should be able to find a great item randomly at any time.

Group play completely blows the stats out of the water and ensures that they get consistent good finds all the time through currency at the very least.

Thats why d3 was dumb - because they required lots of game time to increase your paragon to get good drops. Someone new couldn't get something good.
