+4 on boss tree is stupid, stop it with the "1 shots"

Half of you didn't read the thread.

+boss nodes aren't worth it, at all. You get nothing for a ton of extra risk.

Probably Guide Garys on tradecore with no reading comprehension.

You dont flounder around and pick a bunch of random es/eva/armour basetypes on gear and hope something happens.

Your entire tree is defense, and you still somehow end up with none

I think too many bosses, especially citadel bosses, deal too much damage with a single hit, even non-red-flashing ones.
I think the tankiness of your character should be enough. The blame shouldn't be on the players. The only sufficiently tanky characters in the current state of the game are either having huge amounts of ES or characters with massive commitment to tankiness (lots of armor, additional phys reduction, higher max. resistances and other special defensive layers). It shouldn't be that way; it's excluding way too many builds that would usually clear T15s with very few deaths.

The game suffers so much from very scarce options to add more life (especially on the skill tree). People have been complaining since forever and until then ES will stay the best.

I see some people complaining that ES is too strong, but I think the real problem is the other options being too weak: armour and life are weak, pure evasion is almost never viable

Also, thank goodness that map bosses drop awful loot. Not skilling into the map boss atlas tree really doesn't hurt too much and can make the game more enjoyable
I agree, they get a ton of feedback about defenses. It would be easier to balance if they stopped scaling the enemies/bosses to such high numbers. That's why the new stat effectiveness is my favorite. Enemies get tankier but hit the same, less swarming and better rewards. The +1 boss levels should raise the effectiveness! Then I would be more than happy to get all the points but currently I only take 2-3 and Im not happy taking them
I agree that the biggest issue with boss fights in this game is one shots, but the issue isnt that bosses level, the issue is Map Modifiers apply to bosses and a general lack of good Boss design.

Dont get me wrong the bosses are well designed for Campaign. Thats what tehy are made and designed for. With some flaws or issues in campaign, but its not that bad there.

But in Maps its absolutely horrible. The best approach is either stacking some idiotic amounts of defence to tank it which is possible, or an enormous army or minions.
But if youre neither, then bosses can simply one shot you.

Its a hard task, but endgame bosses should work differently than campaign bosses bosses.

The siren for example should spawn way more monsters, rares and also magic.

Geonors ice spikes from above should just deal less damage so its better scaled for endgame boosted. They deal just way to much dmg. Or you completely redesign the fight for endgame or create completely new citadel bosses that only exist in the endgame.

I don't think they will ever stop using the "1 shot" mechanic.
They want to make POE 2 as successfull as Elden Ring from where they took a few bits and pieces here and there.

Part of their vision is to create a Soul's like feel to the game.

But the problem is that I die to 1-shots randomly that I do not even see because of the visual clarity.

Top things GGG will never do/implement:
1) Campaign Skip
2) Remove 1-shots
3) Fix the abysmal performance issue and visual clarity
4) Make the campaign interesting - I am already bored of the campaign, and it's such a bad written story, 1st time it felt nice, now I realize how bad it is

1) You could allow a skip for a second character you create, but only if with your first character you complete the full campaign and a minimum number of maps (for example, finish 5 tier 10 maps to unlock the skip).
The new character would have the skill points they’d normally have at that level, a free respec for all passives, and gear that you can’t sell, trade, or use on other characters—you can only swap pieces, and the gear “self-deletes” as you change it.

2) One-shot mechanics are fine; what really needs work is the visibility of boss spells. When combined with the player’s own abilities, it often creates a “color mess” that’s hard to read.

3) Performance has improved since launch, but there are still two issues: using fire abilities—or being around mobs that use fire—drops FPS, and the Abyss still causes frame drops despite improvements. The devs said these aren’t top priorities.

4) The campaign is interesting, but the maps are way too large.

I'm going to have to agree. The boss scaling with map difficulty needs to be looked at. "The shackled horror" on +4 does some ice wall/cone freeze attack that does 2000 damage against 76% cold resistance with 70%+ armour applying to elemental. If I didn't have energy shield this attack would be a one shot kill. According to https://poe2db.tw/us/The_Shackled_Horror this attack can't be blocked, dodged or avoided.

Red one-shot I'm fine with; unavoidable one-shots I'm not.

What's crazy is I can breeze thru T15 6 mod maps, but then I get to boss and I struggle a little.

For me though the bigger problem is the crazy health pools. This means any build who's damage isn't incredibly high, is taking forever to kill the boss.

This is an 8 mod map
2 damage rolls and minus max res

And the boss does cold damage

+4 boss tree

Explicit mod tree as well

Ice attack

This is with - max res and three different elemental damage types.
2 that I have added with mods and 1 basetype from the boss. And it doesnt even do 2k to my armour build.

My brass dome even gives me an additional -1 max res as well.

So the problem of getting hit that hard, and it be concerning, is definitely on your end. Not +4 to some boss tree.

I dont think you are running this amount of juice either.

To be fair your build is an extreme tank build if you use brass dome with armour applies to elemental damage. Its not respective for many other builds. They cant tank that.
