Rename POE 2 so it is not associated with real POE.

I would absolutely be in favor of that.
POE2 developers and players dislike POE1. Therefore, let them go. The comments under all POE1 threads and videos speak for themselves. POE 1 is always portrayed as outdated and backward. “No one is taking the game away from you.” No. GGG is taking resources from POE1 to promote a subpar game. And that is precisely what bothers me. |

" they dont hate poe1. there we go, glad we could clear that up for you. as for make their own name... path of exile started as an idea. jonathan wanted to create a computer game and his friend chris said he should make a diablo clone cause they loved that game and it would be cool. so jonathan coded a game engine by himself and built path of exile 1. now youre gonna tell jonathan he has to "make his own name" rather than call it poe2? whos name is it exactly? yours? jonathan IS path of exile, everyone else who has anything to do with path of exile is there because jonathan has allowed them to be part of his idea to create a game. he has the right to say he doesnt like things about poe1, most great artists think a lot of their own art is shit. thats why they make great art, because they dont settle, they keep trying harder. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

100% agree there, Snorkle.
The audacity to tell a guy who has been building the franchise we love from the ground up, together with his friends, that he has no idea what he's doing, is so otherworldly I lack more accurate words to describe it. But some people will just say the craziest stuff, because this is the internet and there are no repercussions except for looking like a fool to a bunch of faceless strangers. Yuck. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

I'll admit being lazy trying to find an older one, the point remains the same. "hate" is a strong word which is not really true. But you can't brush the worry from people when the head is definitely not liking the older foundation. Especially when you see how things and interviews developped overtime, how it started, where it is now, and how big the "?" still is for the future (PoE1 and 2 alike). PoE1 getting the shaft is not theory nor a surprise. We could see it coming, we saw it happening, and is arguably still happening. The only question will be to what extent, not if. |

But you can't either pretend that PoE1 is JR's baby ("jonathan IS path of exile"). That's the exact same gross shortcut than talking about "hate". He made it very clear that what PoE1 has become is not to his liking (for years). Reality is somewhere in the middle, and you don't brush an extreme argument with the other extreme. In such case both are equally wrong/right. EDIT : That's so laughable that you tell me to read after you tried to "call me out" for something written by someone else. Comedy. " You missed the main point of Snorkle's post man.....read his post and the quoted post in their ENTIRETY, not highlighting a single line out of context. He was illustrating the point that PoE 1 IS Jonathan's (which it is, whether he likes what it currently is or not)......in order to illustrate how arrogant it is for a random nobody to tell him to take his "name" off the NEW project, which is also mainly him. The only defense this guy has is that he likes and prefers PoE 1 better. Well....BOTH are the brainchild of Jonathan. He's not talking about PoE 1 or the future of PoE 1, which is what YOU are trying to change the conversation toward. He is purely talking about the fact the developer has earned the RIGHT to call both games PoE and has every right (basically the ONLY one with the right) to call it PoE 2, even with all its differences. If anything, PoE2 is more Jonathan's than PoE1 ever was, now that the main figures left. The "main" topic is irrelevant and not a discussion anyway. PoE is owned by GGG, GGG is making PoE2, there is no discussion to be had. I have no interest discussing why a pot is called a pot with OP. |
