" The Diablo 3 auction house had a major exploitable flaw - caused by their own frequent "realm down" crashes. If an item only had a few hours left, and you knew the realm was going down, you could make a slightly higher bid, wait for the crash and then when the realm came back up, the timer had expired and you had won the item. GGG's uptime is much better, so less likely for that happening. They could use some sort of semi auction, where an item that goes up for sale has a grace period to make sure it is available for those watching (5 minutes?) before a bid on it could be made. The seller could pre-select to accept first bid, or a cap price, or an open cap, but always with a brief auction over period (again, say 5 minutes). This would not stop all bot buying, but would hinder them. Piety's story http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2081910

I thought I would be more bothered by this before async was implemented, but honestly? It's really been a non-issue.
You were realistically never going to be able to snipe valuable misspriced items in the past because no sane person would ever sell if they got flooded with 100 whispers for something that should be worth a lot more. Async is no different; what's the point in whining that you have no chance to compete over a misspriced mageblood or other T0 item when that's always been the case in the past? Just buy at market value and make profit off of niches instead of the misfortune of others, you'll do just fine I promise :') Souls along a conduit of blood, from one vessel to the next.

" Because bots don't bother with low price items anymore. Most of them are sniping valdo maps / inscribed ultimatums where you can get 1d+ per trade. | |

Ok hear me out, this is a feasible solution for bots. Beside instant buy, give us an auction option where you set the price and timer for the latest bid to end. So any bots want to snipe items that you are not sure of price or mistakenly misprice it have to compete with each others.
Exploit early exploit often bozos.

I would go in denial and prefer to say it's not a big deal after all, it doesn't affect my gameplay or even better: bots are swift and make things easier for the econony. :)
