Experience Loss Is Harsh Bro...
|
The game is lagging, freezing, and I'm dying to things beyond my control and for my trouble I get to lose XP? Not super fair.
I know, I know... life isn't fair. It's already harsh that you can give the free time you have to a game that punishes you by taking the experience you earned in activities you were SUCCESSFUL at, because of a death in a whole different activity. Hours of maps, etc. at LVL 96-100. Even with an omen on, 2.5% is a large time investment for some of us. You want to take the XP away that would have been earned in the failed activity? Absolutely. That's fair. I died in that map, so I get what loot I grabbed and that's it. Also taking away the XP I earned a map I kicked booty in... that's just shi**y man. It feels bad. Everywhere you talk to people, even ones who love the game itself... it feels BAD to play for hours and then be punished that harshly for one mistake in ONE activity. Especially right now when lagging and that lovely gears screen where I got frozen in a boss fight and he's beating me like I owe him money but all I can see is gears and can't pause... goodbye to my XP and it wasn't even my fault. That's just not right. Last bumped on Oct 30, 2025, 1:15:12 AM

Its their uninstall feature I swear.
Every single player I know reached a point of "Why am I even doing this?" Exp loss isn't a feature, its reminder to go play a game that brings you enjoyment. I don't know who is giving all these companies bad advice but the bottom line is making your endgame feel punishing lowers your player count drastically. Other games I've loved have had similar problems, Lost Ark, Throne & Liberty for example same thing. I just don't understand the logic of making something not enjoyable in the gaming space. Its never seemed to pay off. Last edited by TheVoyant#3002 on Oct 26, 2025, 5:20:35 PM

its intended to be harsh and punishing at those levels since it's just about prestige/rank at that point. I dont see them changing it although personally idc either way. I like that it's there, but I wouldn't cry if they lowered the punishment either

IMO the bigger problem with the game is all deaths feel random.
If you could actually tell what was happening on screen, and the game didn’t stutter at 20 fps while playing on a 5090 deaths would be a lot easier to stomach. As it stands though deaths in game are too random. They either need to fix that or remove the xp loss. |
|
" Guess what? Deads are not random. There is always a cause to it. |

I swear all I see is requests to make the game easier, simpler and more bland.
Penalty too high, movement too slow, items too rare, boss too hard, maps too big, maps too complicated, on and on and on... All the while playing content that is the hardest available in the game. If we removed/reduced these things the 'game' would cease to exist. Last edited by Panzerstrike#1881 on Oct 26, 2025, 7:43:32 PM

dying sucks, wanna know a fix for that? that you are in control of?
make your build tankier/better and get better/react better to stuff in-game, even if it's 'pressing the esc button on your keyboard'. It sounds hard but that's the 'reality of the game'. Due to the nature of how damage vs defense works in this game, you have to make yourself a build that is pretty much unkillable. Or you will die - it's just a matter of time. Everything that doesn't fall into that category, means that you have to react as fast as possible to the 5h1t that is happening on your screen. If you can't do that -> - 10% exp. guaranteed. and well deserved. See, in softcore you get punished by -10% exp for a death. In hardcore you have to start over. Don't cry as a softcore player man^^ I don't like dying and therefor I force myself to get better and make better builds and if I die in campaign I will most likely delete the character and start over as if it was hardcore. Poe 2 back again. New trade system not flawless but still good.
Need search save option for market panel. |

Exp loss on death is good. If you can't get to 95, there's a problem with your build. Past 96 it's just a challenge for people who want the challenge
It's good that it exists and doesn't trivialize getting to 100, although there's no reward for getting there, at least it's something to have as a goal in an end game that there's nothing at the moment |

" Thing is that's just not how it works for most players. The game doesn't reward good builds or encourage you to get good/make death feel like a learning experience. It feels awkward and unprofessional. Deaths don't feel like they come from a bad build, they feel like they come from an imbalanced unstable game. Game doesn't get harder or challenging, I don't feel like a t15 is any different then a t10. And the only difference is they make bosses into horrible experiences with near one shot mechanics. People aren't asking for the world by asking for a fun game that feels like the game they've been enjoying that suddenly decides to jump the shark at endgame. I get there will always be the portion of the base that defends them, but its just alienating so many of us who want what PoE2 is up until endgame. |
