What other Ascendancies should be updated?
|
I know they've made some changes before but I think Saboteur could use some freshness, in addition to Assassin of course.
In Assassin's case, I hope they just make the nodes better and maybe change some of the less appealing notables like the one that grants Elusive on critical strike. Pathfinder could use a little love. Some of those notables are just bad, like Master Distiller. I don't really play left-side builds so I wouldn't know what to suggest there. I think Elementalist is in a great spot now, Occultist could use a little touch-up... I'm not really a minion player so I can't speak to that either. Edit: I wanna see at least one of the Phrecia Ascendancies to come back for each class. Last edited by Beavith#5056 on Oct 21, 2025, 5:05:29 PM Last bumped on Oct 24, 2025, 4:27:00 AM

Honestly, I think Assassin is fine. Its a starter class that you can spec out of. I thought the same about Raider - it was fine and then u spec out.
Personally, how about the Occultist actually have more Curse Synergy by getting rid of Forbidden Power or just adding more nodes. Elementalist will probably get nerfed since it had a high playrate along with Trickster again. Most of the Left Side Ascendancies are fine. Maybe add more Battmage Synergy to the Inquisitor? I think most of the ascendancies are fine just a little tune up. I just hope the Breach Rework is going to be good. EDIT: The only Phrecia Ascendancy nodes I want to see are the FIshing Rod nodes. It was actually fun making a Fishing Rod Build actually do Uber DPS. Youtube - PartTimeExile www.youtube.com/@PartTimeExile "Remember, youre the best." " Yeah I've used Assassin recently and it's usually my go-to Sanctum runner for week 1. It's not a terrible Ascendancy but I think it could use some changes. It's been a long time. I also felt the same about Raider, I loved that Ascendancy. It was super easy to set her up for early end-game. Warden is great though, I love it too. Not sure which one I prefer though... |

So, I've recently been doing some thought on this; Scion needs something other than ascendant, and what idear did I have, lets make use of mercs by giving scion a new ascendancy that creates a merc for them to use.. the ascendancy points would either give buffs to the merc and maybe the run points give you more to auras, this would allow us to make a solo aurabot to level without needing a carry? I dunno just a thought.

" That's actually a great idea. I'd add Scavenger from Phrecia to give her 3 like everyone else. |

Well @OP: what do you mean by "updated"? I get the feeling you are only looking at them from one direction, which I think is quite impossible when "comparing" ascendancies to one another.
Because "update" could mean both ways: buffs AND nerfs. Trickster certainly needs to be "updated": it vastly outperforms most other ascendancies I would argue Elementalist needs to be "updated" in the same way as Trickster: maybe not to the same degree, but its still a ridiculous outlier. Each "shaper" node has the power of what really should be two ascendancy nodes. Gladiator.....still needs more updating. They shouldn't have added Svalinn to the game because that one shield basically negates almost all of the gladiator identity. The other two duelists are pretty classically great. Gladiator is only the right choice for basically ONE build at the moment. Pathfinder I would argue doesn't need updating at all really: it has an identity and does it VERY well. Sure it has a dud node but...eh. Assassin desperately needs an update. Numbers corroborate this. There's no such thing as a "starter" ascendancy, nor should there be. If that is what you think of it, then there is a clear issue. Biggest problems with Assassin is: it specializes in poison, yet at least two other ascendancies do poison better. It also specializes in crits, yet at least THREE other ascendancies do crit better. That's a problem Saboteur, yep: needs a rework. The ascendancy just has too many downsides, not enough synergy, and too many weak nodes. It's pretty bad when the ascendancy that specializes in mines and traps.....is almost never the best choice for mines or traps. Marauder ascendancies are all pretty darn good. There are issues with zerk but its still popular and powerful. Templar i think is currently the prime example of the BEST three ascendancies for one class. They are all individually very good at their specialties, with little overlap or competing power. Guardian is a bit of a specialty class, but it works. Occultist/Necro: both good. Not too OP, Not too weak. Maintains their unique identities. I have zero experience with Warden. I hate tinctures. " Yeah, either buff or nerf I suppose. I also think some of the dud nodes could use an update. Besides Tinctures on Warden, there's the Barkskin skill. Maybe if it had no Mana Reservation it would be alright as an Ascendancy point but I'm not a particular fan of skills granted by Ascendancies anyway because it feels a bit more on-rails that way. I agree with the Gladiator bit as well, he still feels like he's not built for the current game. |

^OG gladiator should have just been brought back completely as-is.
Ofc.....they also should have never changed riposte and the like. They did Gladiator dirty ever since deciding around Legion for some odd reason that it was too powerful. Even though it never really was. And they have never recovered, because every time they attempt a rework....they also introduce outside mechanics to invalidate it. https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/bvdat8/heres_an_early_look_at_the_gladiator_ascendancy/#lightbox Like.....this was perfect. A true gladiator, right down the stance-shifting skill. Quite possibly the best ascendancy "aesthetic" that has ever existed in the game. And they gut it. Three times. Honestly.....despite the power they provide.......Forbidden Flesh and Flame have irreparably harmed GGG's ability to craft and create truly straight up GOOD ascendancies. Scion need more options, Aristocrat fits Scion so much i am still wondering why they give it to duelist.
Gladiator: Determined Survivor and weapon master need to support staves, Bows could get something from weapon master so bleed bows have something for the fourth keystone Hierophant: the class itself is very good but the synergy between Divine Guidance and sanctuary of thought feels awkward. I mean one keystone gives you damage taken from mana before life and the second one gives you ES. It should be something like: Divine Guidance: 30% increased maximum Mana, Transfiguration of Mind, Regenerate 1% of Mana per second and from divine Guidance it will split into 2 keystones Sanctuary of Thought: mana-ES related Sanctuary of body: mana-life related self found league fan http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/324242/page/1 Last edited by caboom#7201 on Oct 21, 2025, 8:09:27 PM

" I mean... Starter Builds Exist for that same reason, no? Do you also agree that all skills should be great at the get go? I dont think so. I think some Ascendancies should be 'starter' friendly also. Granted, the Assaassin having pretty clunky poison notables isnt ideal and could be changed or elaborated on. Youtube - PartTimeExile
