Love poe 1 hate poe 2

I wouldnt mind that poe 2 isnt my cup of tea but it is brutally canibalising poe 1.
Anyone feel the same? Last bumped on Oct 23, 2025, 9:21:44 PM

Our overlord Ben posted a good video in December titled "I don't understand why POE2 exists". Fast forward to October 2025 and the question still stands. If POE2 devolves into a "it's like POE1 but not really, kind of worse", then why does the game exist.
"THE VISION" is clearly gone in POE2 with the release of the abyssal league where the screen is full of constantly spawning monsters that swarm you at light speed. Before you can think of the words "slow methodical gameplay" you are already dead. POE2 largely adopts all the same horrible designs of POE1, including painful melee experience, all wearable GROUND loot is useless in endgame, zero visual clarity, horrible game performance in all environments, endgame reward system catering to streamer jobs, most uniques are pointless even for leveling or early endgame, etc. Last edited by mnieradko#6070 on Oct 13, 2025, 4:22:20 PM

" I did not even bother to login to try the abyssal league. The only thing I really like about poe 2 is the graphics. They nailed it. But thats going to get you hooked for maybe a few hours. |

Like both games (except poe2 endless RNG Atlas i absolutely hate it ) but also dont understand why they made it a separate game when its turning into poe1 (endgame) sooner or later anyway.
GIGA big 4.0 Update incl. grafics Upgrade with shared endgame not Splitting the Playerbase makes more sense to me but what do i know Excited to see how poe2 will be after 1.0 and actual new League content that isnt copied (and slightly changed) from poe1. Assume 2027? Soon tm What makes me a little bit sad is poe1 probably being dead after couple poe2 seasons after release (i dont expect them to do a grafics Update or other Major additions like new classes for poe1), WE might still be able to play it but expect it to be niege Game with low player count like a D2R season. You guys are in the vast minority. Most of us are loving POE2, but in answer to the poster's question, I will certainly play POE 1 again starting with the new league. They are and will remain substantially different games, but of course everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it, whatever the quality of thought behind it.
That said, it would be so refreshing to hear things like "I am not having fun in POE 2", instead of "POE 2 is not fun". Some small acknowledgement that your opinions are your own and entirely subjective. |

Why does PoE2 exist? Because the PoE1 doesn't grow. It's far too difficult for new players to join in. The player base is TOO toxic.

It would take waaaaaaaaaaay less development effort and straight dollars to make POE1 more "new player friendly" than to create an entire new game and support structure and continue the development of that new thing.
They didn't even try. Blizzard gets a lot of hate in these forums but WoW isn't afraid of tearing apart antiquated new player experiences that were irrelevant 10+ years ago to create new starting player systems from the ground up. Last edited by mnieradko#6070 on Oct 13, 2025, 9:33:54 PM

" They did try to keep it one game. Ended up being to limiting so they split the games in two. Not sure why people trash on PoE2. It is in really early access. PoE1 was basically the same in beta. Actually in PoE1 there was a lot less content in beta. I will reserve judgement until WAY later. PoE 2 is just starting. It has really good potential. This league was pretty fun imo. Was even better after they ditched towers. |

" POE1 vs POE2 are not really comparable since POE1 didn't take resources from a prior game. When you supported POE1, you knew those funds were going to POE1. Now when you spend, it's probably going heavily to the new kid. It's a business, I get it. But the two situations are not comparable since POE1 is the game that's been here for so long and quite loved still. Watching it potentially die a slow death to a game that is not as good for some of us will generate some people trashing it. Thanks for all the fish!
