POE2 has way to many currencies
Selling stash tabs is one reason, but I think it's more about creating prizes for the slot machine. Traditionally "content" is what the devs are using to entertain the player and so gating it behind random chance would be hiding the fun. In POE the slot machine is the entertainment. Slot machines need prizes, ergo we have tons of currency.
I feel like the target audience for POE2 can pick out slot machines and Gatcha mechanics pretty easily and the core POE audience doesn't care. Some even like it. However the added complexity also allows them to hook people who would be put off by a more direct skinner box. TLDR: I doubt they will be decreasing the number of currencies. |

100 currencies and 90 are things you won't actually have until so late in the game that functionally, they don't exist.
The league will end before I see any perfects. EVERY league will end before I see any perfects. Having 5 div in my stash would make me feel like I'm rich. 10 would make me feel like Bezos. I'll never use Omens to craft because by the end of league, I'll only have 4 omens and they won't even be crafting ones. And so on it goes. |

Allow me to enlighten.
You see they will not admit that there should be a crafting table with a variety of explicit operations you can do on gear to make it viable. 1) They will drop 10,000 bases 2) They will drop 10,000 different currency items. 3) They will invent jank side areas like the well of corruption or whatever to give you gasp 3 RANDOMLY useful options. 4)They will tier the currency , well in this case its to limit your success at achieving items by gating currency. I agree they will make it so unappealing nobody will touch it. People already use filters to not show items only currency. Hell i rarely pick anything up or care and im SSF! I am never going to be a garbage man, collecting empties to turn in for change. That crap stays on the ground. And the absolute Irony of it! To craft 4 decent anything on anything is going to cost 3 to 10 times as much than just opening the browser window , explicitly choosing every attribute on an item and hit BUY. Not playing the game is more beneficial to character advancement than playing the game. Let the bots pick up the loot, it keeps the effort low and the price down. More loot comes from a browser than any bench, boss or map. Last edited by Jitter912#4278 on Oct 8, 2025, 7:29:39 PM

sounds like that's your fault?
they don't have to engage in crafting -- they can just sell all their finds that aren't things they use normally and buy items already made they can learn how to craft later -- sounds like you got too hyped to share your knowledge and scared away your friends lol |

" I think it would be better if we had 2 tiers instead of 3 for things like orbs and runes, and make no distinction between runes, soulcores and talismans Same applies to essences, i remember the day i had to give this guy a long explanation about perfect essences and greater/lesser essences being very different from each other And i get why he got confused, you would normally think that it's an improved version of the previous essence but it's not |

" They are making same mistake as with POE1. That is - blocking all newcomers. They really don't understand the golden formula "Less Is More". |

I like the number of currencies. I would like to see more.

" No no you don't orb of good = do the same thing to everything orb of bad = do good things on an item rarity orb of worse = only do a tiered action to an item. orb of ass = do random things in a tiered range. cause at level 89 when you are getting orbs locked to low tier random items. taking up 75% of the random drop pool because lower is more common. Making decent drops even more much more rare. And finally gating the game to the devs progress ideal by preventing any good luck or outrageous fortune becasue everything has been metered. Sounds like a big assburger to me. Wanna see best .... Orb of Fire Orb of Ice Orb of Lighting Orb Of Chaos Orb of the Fighter Orb of the Mage Orb Of the Priest Orb Of the Thief Orb Of life Orb Of Death Now you fill those out with logical application for attack and defense options based on description , make the result random in that category ... better game . Cause all i need is a priest a figher and a life orb to hit .... god tier item ... for my build... it would go like that ... or 3 mage and a Life , or 4 life items have x locations for orbs. Orbs have several attack and defense themed options , items can hold multiple orbs , effects can stack . build you items out of orbs . Thematic orbs can be added for seasons or events to enable diverse crafting with minimal coding. Lego items. GGG should hire me... you should see my endgame philosophy :) Last edited by Jitter912#4278 on Oct 9, 2025, 12:47:33 AM

+1
I also made a thread once telling GGG that the introduction of greater and perfect orbs is the wrong direction. Everytime they need a crafting solution, they just introduce new orbs. It's a mess. It's so much, that I don't want to bother with crafting at all, even though I would love to. I mean, on top of the 250 currencies, we also have to think about prefix, suffix, implicit etc. Crafting is like another game within PoE2 and just needs as much time as playing the game itself. That's why it's not good and only a small percentage of the playerbase actually understands crafting to it's fullest. A solution would be a crafting bench that has access to all the currency in your stash tab. That crafting table uses your currency and guides you through the whole crafting process with explenation of everything you can do now. But I think that would be as complex as the trade market itself, given all the things this crafting bench has to consider. |
