I work quite a bit myself. I often work 12 hour days. I didnt get a chance to start this league at release. I started about a week and a half late. Still, i enjoy the campaign length. I didnt like doing it when I first started poe 1, but it grew on me, and now its something I look forward to doing every new league. Its not a race, but even if it was, we'd still be losing to most streamers and their audience, even if it was shorter. Try to enjoy yourself at your own pace. The length shouldnt matter if youre enjoying the gameplay.

I really enjoyed the campaign and hope the next part is even longer. I'm excited to play new leagues and experience the story again. Structured story format is far better than randomized endgame maps.

This is not a viable product for normal people. For streamers, Twitch content producers, dedicated racers, sure. Its annoying to them but not a big deal.
This is an unfinished product that is, for some reason, being treated as
a fully functioning one with all the bells and whistles. It feels more
like it has been released due to financial reasons and patching things up
on the go.
We, the players, are the the QA and QC for this unfinished product,
that is undergoing rapid prototyping every cycle with unknown outcomes.
It might be market ready for Christmas 2026 but till then its a dumpsterfire.
This game is not meant to be played by people with a regular day schedule,
those who have obligations (Family) that require attention. People without
those just work and binge-play the game. Thats why they drop it after roughly
3 weeks in.

Campaign is perfect. Very enjoyable.
Every day I see on forum persons trying to dilute the game on all levels; modifiers, campaign, trials, currency.
This is one of the reason WoW failed, because it is easy and boring.
That's why classic was good, because was hard and difficult.
Sadly after Chirs left, everything becomes too easy...
And regarding the "respect my time"... that comes from too much RNG and less grinding.
More grind to a goal that is not RNG is more rewarding than casino.
What does easy/hard has to do with the length of the Campaign? Nothing!!
Nobody said anything about making the campaign easier.
Have 1 act with Arbiter 8/8 to beat in the end. Is that ok for you ?

Theoretically you can do that, but you forget many people dont have that time. For many people 2-3 Hours a day is the maximum they can spend at gaming a day. Often its less. Those people have children.
They need a wek to finish the campaign.
I dont have that issue, but you have to consider the whole community and not the nolifes

This seems to be very obvious at this point. Get people to pay for "free" game, have a feedback forum that absolutely no dev reads (zero answers or anything from GGG here ever), continue with tens of millions of extra money and ignore the thing that this should be early access.
I wonder if this idea was from GGG or Tencent?

I am 54, a VP of Engineering (which means busy full time job) a single father widower with kids to manage. I make good money and want to sit down when I can and play a video game. One of the greatest things about Path of Exile 1 is that I dont worry about competing with others, half the time I play SSF anyway because I dont want to just do someone else's build. I have gotten to the point where I can do the campaign in about 12h. Is that a record speed? God no. But It is probably a best for me and I am comfortable with that.
Then there is POE2.
I will NEVER see the endgame in this game. Now that the league has been running a while and I have gotten past the horrific startup curve I am playing through the campaign and its long. For a casual like me we are talking 60+ hours already and counting. Its not long because its thrilling and exciting it is just long. Its not long because it is challenging ... its just long and tedious.
In POE1 if you want to blast the campaign you know where the bosses are, skip a bunch of mobs and go get them and move on, pausing to kill just what you need to level up. Its sort of the "If it ain't blue run right through" mantra. In POE2 you cant do that. Almost every zone demands a full scale clear. You have to wade through tons of monsters to get through the bosses. The rewards like dropped gems are on this mini boss and that, dropped only by yellow mobs and so on. You have to basically kill everything. In POE1 if you required players to kill every mob before they leave the zone they would riot on the forums. Its not challenging or engaging, its tedious.
And this means on the GGG scale act 6 will take a normie like me 30h to get through when its done as each act is longer than the previous. This isn't engaging, its tedious. Like mowing the lawn with a pair of nail clippers.
Once? Cool. Twice ... eh ... ok I guess ... every 3 months for each of your 3 characters you wanted to try? No no no. I cant even bear to roll a ritualist though I would like to try it because I know I will NEVER see endgame.
This is not a viable product for normal people. For streamers, Twitch content producers, dedicated racers, sure. Its annoying to them but not a big deal.
And to be clear I am not asking for a campain skip. I am asking for a campaign compression. Instead of having to tediously fight 32 packs to get to the boss, maybe only 10 packs. Instead of the zone being a vast morass of quasi random generated caves make it more open and direct so people can get to the boss and fight him. This means the streamers will blast through it. Sure. And who cares? Unless you are making a game only for streamers, content creators and those without a job or family.
Maybe its time to restructure how you think or stop playing PoE 2.
Personally, I would not use PoE 2 as a Gateway Drug away from Life Responsibilities (being a father to kids whose mother died).
Personally, the only thing good about PoE 2 is the Campaign (despite its length) since Infinite Atlas is awful.

I haven't read the whole thread (tldr) but one thing that I haven't seen mentioned yet is you don't HAVE to play the leagues.
Standard is a thing. You can play that with the same set of character(s) and not have to keep redoing the campaign when you have time to play and actually see some progression.
Yeah, the economy will be totally fubared, but it's going to be fubared by the time you get to end game during a league anyways.
