I don't think I can do this every 3 to 4 months., the campaign is just too long.
" Your attempt too attack me personally is a failure. Nothing you can say will affect even my mood. You are powerless around me and all you accomplish is to bump my thread. Thanks. |

I think that the problem is not the length of the campaign, but actually the state of loots and currencies in this game. Just think about it, the reason you want to rush to end game is that you can ramp up the loots curve with maps, everything else is almost the same in the campaign or even more boring since you get no quest and rewards or even frequently lvling up. This created an illusion that the campaign is a slog because the game constantly throwing problems at you without giving you much choice to solve it like loots or trading in market (only avail after act 4). If they shower you with currencies and choices to try new things in the campaign, I guanratee there won’t be any complaints. This is simply a failure in game design.

Campaign is perfect. Very enjoyable.
Every day I see on forum persons trying to dilute the game on all levels; modifiers, campaign, trials, currency. This is one of the reason WoW failed, because it is easy and boring. That's why classic was good, because was hard and difficult. Sadly after Chirs left, everything becomes too easy... And regarding the "respect my time"... that comes from too much RNG and less grinding. More grind to a goal that is not RNG is more rewarding than casino. |

so I love the campaign, wouldn't even say its too long, it just feels super long because of the slog for gear(depending on the character).
Honestly GGG could make Maps as hard as they want, that's where most players spend most of their time anyway. Making the campaign enjoyable to a broader audience while keeping the difficulty in maps doesnt exactly seem like a bad idea. its not like high-end players would want to skip the campaign after their first character of the league any less just cause its at their preferred difficulty level, might just take them longer to reach that point. |

What? No, it's the only fun part of the game, don't make campaign shorter.

a skip button unlocked after the campaign is completed after the first playthrough would be fair
it would mean an alternative leveling path though or just freedom for the player to choose where he wants to do this, a favourite area etc. to combat that all GGG would need to do is make the campaign rewarding enough to do so that the player would prefer to do it to level, rather than see it as a chore they must get through Last edited by tarloch#1873 on Sep 13, 2025, 5:09:34 AM

I feel you. It was nice when I first played it in 0.1, but after that I couldn't force myself to go though the campaign again.
With 0.3 me and my friends started again, and seeing the well made act 4 and good interlude was nice. And now I am at a point where I want to try a new character, but don't want to spend another 20-30 hours in the campaign again. My suggestions for every character after the first would be: 1) skip campaign entirely of I want to. Let me do maps over and over again. 2) if GGG forces us to do the campaign again and again, then remove all "quest activities" like finding soul cores etc, just open every door and area 3) in addition to 2), reveal the whole map, so we know where we have to go 4) give permanent buffs for running the campaign, like 25% movement speed, 30% base res or whatever 5) I don't really like throwing this idea in the room, but they could sell a campaign skip/level boost. 5$ to get a character to level 50 and skip the campaign. A window to select all the various buffs you would collect throughout the campaign. Then you start the game in your hideout, very basic gear and 3 lvl 1 waystones. Hell, even 10$ would be totally worth it for me to spend to save lots of hours doing the same things over and over again.. |

I don't find it's long at all. Having responsibilities like work and a family shouldn't impact the development of a game. If you are unable to give it the time it needs, it's unfortunate, but games like PoE aren't really for casuals and never have been. They require a lot of time investment.
That being said I don't feel the campaign is too long at all. On a fresh start you're in the endgame in about 8-10 hours, which is nothing for a video game campaign. Making the campaign even shorter would only run into the same issue as PoE and that the campaign would be irrelevant. I think the campaign is great and the majority agrees it's the best part of the game. Hopefully you can find more time to play, but I hope they never develop the game in a manner which takes away good parts of the game for people who don't have time. Would kill the game. |

I understand what you're saying but when you knock out the campaign the first time your alt has access to so much currency and gold and perhaps twink gear that the campaign can be less than 12 hours without a speed run strat.
If they did create a mini version of maps to let alts skip the campaign, wouldn't it essentially just be a different version of the same thing? Just a set path to run while levelling? I doubt they would turn the drops up for an alt just because they are Mapping out the gate. It would feel like the same chore. If you were given the option to auto skip all mandatory dialogue instead of just manually skipping through it and cutting all the scenes where your character walks up waiting for combat to start how much time would it really cut? It feels infuriating in the moment because you've done it before but all up I'd say it's less than 30 minutes. If you have limited time especially under your circumstances you deserve to play a game that respects your time. This game has been notoriously divisive but despite the claims it's death is on the horizon, I believe it's doing well at finding its core audience and if in the end it doesn't fit everyones playstyle/lifestyle that is okay because heaps of other great games will fit them. |

Having to do all the side quests all over and over again is just annoying.
