PoE2 has already failed on what it set up to do before it even released.
" Absolutely not, you don't seem to understand the nature of the problem if you recommend something like this. Especially when you yourself identified that it doesn't really fix the issue. If the combat were good, you wouldn't be saying this "And very soon you will see how boring and frustrating it is." " Funny emotional response, but let's talk facts instead. We are currently on version 0.3, so we can safely assume we are 1/3 there towards the released state. Now let's objectively analyze how much has changed in terms of improving the combat since 0.1... nothing.. quite the opposite: 1) Bosses had difficulty and their hp lowered significantly 2) Ranged characters still have a significant advantage over melee 3) PoE1 mechanics that should've never made it in this game because they're simply anti-good combat are still there, let alone that they should've never been implemented here if they wanted to achieve good combat. 4) Mob density keeps going up, especially with abyss this patch, making things even worse. And I could just go on... What would need to happen between 0.3 and 1.0: Literally a full rework of a lot of systems and how they work such as: minions, evasion, ES, a lot of skills (contagion for example but many more), mobs, items, uniques, passive tree, support gem more multipliers removed, etc. There are a ton of things that would need to change to make combat actually good. So then.. to summarize... from 0.1 to 0.3 combat has actually gotten worse, what makes you think that from 0.3 to 1.0 they will fix everything, especially considering how many changes would need to occur? yep, overall i like 0.3 but its way too easy
0.3 and i already want a hardmode or ruthless mode
" everything about this statement is wrong. i play hcssf and feel the same way, game is too easy I have a spark bloodmage in act 3 who does so little damage that i run out of mana flask in boss fights but the boss doesnt really do damage either. Its not challenging its just boring waiting for mana regeneration In boss fights your life flask should matter not your mana flask. But most builds just kill bosses in campaign in 2 seconds, why even give them abilities
" The nature of the problem are your expectations, how do someone know how you paint meaningful combat in your imagination? There is builds with meaningful combat, which will involve kiting and useage of a few skills interacting with other. Why won't you finally pick one on ssf and stop bitching? And I guarantee you will drop it by the time you reach 80, this playstyle will get boring very fast. You won't play this way hundred of hours and especially more. |

" You're literally repeating the same thing even though I've pointed out that the problem has nothing to do with SSF or even trade itself and that even you realize it exists by your own statement. If as SSF you find the gameplay boring, then that means the combat isn't good.. it's as simple as that. Why would you even recommend me that.. for further proof of what I'm saying already?... Like I've mentioned in a previous post, I was essentially SSF till act 4 enabled the new trading system and that part till act 4 has gotten worse and is subject to the same issues. Trade only makes the problem even more evident afterwards. Besides all that, are you by any chance insinuating that the combat is good and trading is the only thing that makes it bad? Ridiculous. Just pointless talking points... but you know what isn't pointless? Pointing out more examples that show how "good" the combat actually is in PoE2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPsim7nRkkQ&t=14s I'll continue to ask like a broken record... is this good combat, GGG? " Ok, fine, you subjectively do not like the combat. Not just you for sure. And now I will ask again: what are your expectations? All you are saying is how combat is bad. Assuming you've got something to compare with, so you probably want to give an example of good combat then? |

" Oh my God I love this. It's like paint-by-numbers project management. Absolutely adorable. Wait until this guy learns about 0.10, 0.11, etc. Like guy come on. Did 0.3a, b, c, not give you a clue that this is an arbitrary system that will go on as long as they need it to? Last edited by Kerchunk#7797 on Sep 13, 2025, 1:59:54 AM

Yep, OP is spot on. GGG lost sight of their vision. The only class that even remotely matches the vision is warrior melee (which is why it's the only class I ever play)... maybe ranger or huntress on good ole ethical builds...
They had such a good start in season 1, it looked promising if they tweaked it in the correct direction... instead of tweaking it, they spedrun the wheel in the opposite direction. Frankly, I think it was inevitable. The POE core playerbase was the loudest and whiniest. They are not used to mechanically challenging gameplay and blew up the forums every time they were challenged. I've played every season on warrior... yea, sure, it was weak compared to everything else in 0.1... but man was it almost spot-on to the vision that was sold to us originally. Now it's just a big slamming insta map-clearing class. They left the punishment in and took the challenge out. I'm kinda saddened by that. " Spot on? There is builds which will make your regular mapping a challenge. With the rotation of a few active skills and kiting. I won't be surprised if they developing some of the skills that way, to see if someone will be using them. And they are least popular because, on one hand some people are asking for this, on the other they refuse to play it, saying it's boring and simply describing it as "bad combat". Bad and that's it, where is good combat GGG? Some players simply can't understand what do they want. Speaking of season 1 it was totally the same, your entire gameplay was consistent solely of nuking entire screen with occasional oneshots. Not much else has changed except the fact that oneshots a way less common. (I am playing warrior if something) Last edited by JEE_ZUZ#0982 on Sep 13, 2025, 5:20:28 AM

" Why? Monster Hunter, Souls games and literally any other action game with an end level boss (and actual meaningful combat) follow the same logic. The formula works, where is this "we should be able to do massive damage to them, as well" coming from? And the thing is, we had a good start for meaningful combat at release. Then come the karens from poe1 spamming the word "slog" and bitching about how they can't oneshot everything to fulfill their vision of power fantasy and we get every enemy nerfed to the ground just to satisfy the dopamine needs of that part of the playerbase that's not interested in the gameplay at all. They're just interested in the act of diminishing the moment to moment gameplay (so, the combat) as much as they can in order to reduce it to a one-button-clears-everything playstyle so that they get their currency as fast as possible. Literally like playing a slot machine irl, but at least with slot machines you win real money, in this game you win fictitious currency (the equivalent of f-ng internet points, congrats) and a brain fried from excessive uncalled for dopamine release. |
