Make the ascendency FUN, not a CHORE

In case of Sekhamas it's not exactly difficulty, but rather sheer length + inability to make single mistake while game is tuned very aggressively and boss can oneshot you after 1 hour of running these rooms. At least in Sekhamas you can use keys after each trial, so you never leave with nothing.

Honour mechanics is unnecessary in the first place, it adds nothing besides necessity of stacking honour resistance relics and screwing up builds that are made for survivability and are not afraid of damage.

I only died once in Sekhamas because boss oneshotted me (which is bullshit on its own according to the fact that I was like 10 lvls overlevelled and had like 80% phys reduction), but still - all other cases were about that freaking Honour. I received too many small hits that I could heal through to actually play my build as it's meant to be played.

I play melee character and cannot allow myself to get hit while I'm entirely build around being able to take damage to also do damage? Nobody can convince me that it's not trash game design.

If Sekhemas had Honour removed and at least 2-3 chances per entire trial to repeat entire floor - I could even say it could be fun. Maps have few chances per Waystone, so why Trial has only one?

And Chaos trial cannot have only penalties, many of which are run-ending on their own (and we cannot get rid of them like in case of Sekhamas), and also would need few chances and checkpoints to be beareable. I think that Chaos trial should give opportunity to exchange reward for lack of added penalty. So if you want no rewards and all of them suck for you anyway - you can even sacrifice them all only to reach the end.

It's not ordinary ARPG where you can predict if you will kill the boss or not, boss can always randomly oneshot you, so 1-chance design is a no go for me in any scenario unless bosses and sometimes even other mobs are toned down.

I feel like OP you are avoiding content and not really giving it a fair shot by saying

"I just pay for it" comment that you have put up.

Sekhemas has a lot going for it that can make it rewarding and fun, its just a matter of actually doing it.

Focusing on keys/hourglass rooms can net you a pretty decent ammout of loot at the end.

But it really just matters how you approach things I guess. People would say the same thing about the campaign, but I enjoy doing that multiple times.

I would agree with the sentiment more for chaos as ... it really doesnt have anything that revolutionary going for it. But sekhemas you can get a lot from it.

Oh no, someome said something you don't like and you can't handle it. That's ok. But truth is that no matter how easy or "fun" trials will become, people will still pay for carries because they are lazy.

Explain how you can be lazy in a video game please.
Spoiler alert: You cant because it's not a thing. I would argue that someone continuing to attempt the same thing over and over is the opposite of lazy and show resolve.

But, all is not lost for you.
Maybe, just maybe the reason for the title and thread could be....
...wait for it..
....because it's not fun.
Wow. How about that. Instead of trying to be self important, maybe actually read what is written.

Obviously you DID eat breakfast this morning, let me provide you with an example:
Today when I leave my job (full day) I'll go home and clean a little (two dogs).
Then I'll walk both of them (great dane and a brittany). When I get back home, I'll do some more edging around my back drive way and mow my back yard. I'll get some weeds if I have the time.
THen I'll go back in and while helping my child with homework, I'll make dinner. After dinner it's kitchen clean up and laundry at the same time so tomorrow morning, I can finish it before work.

If I have time to log in, I doubt I'll feel like playing something like the trials because-
(which is most likely?)
A. Because I'm lazy?
B. It's way too long with BS mechanics that make the whole experience unfun?

Good thing you had breakfast so you can take all the time you need.
ODDLY everyone brings up the Ascendency Runs being offered in exchange of services as proof that the trials are "unfun". But couldn't it work the opposite way as well? These folk could be making a profit in plenty of ways, but they prefer to do it by doing Ascendancy runs. Almost as if they found the Ascendancy runs more appealing to do than other things in the game.

I came here because I got to the last room of my third ascend. The sprint mechanic got me killed - I was dodge rolling and the game thought I was sprinting which is a very commonly reported issue. So I 'tripped' and the boss beat me to death while my character was standing up, thus I lost the trial.

I lost my time. My effort. My patience. My willingness to play. And despite having farmed up relics to make my runs better, I got punished for something out of my control in a trial that >no one< likes.

The trials suck, we all know it. We get punished for doing them. Period. Let's stop defending a horrid thing in the game that we paid money to early access beta test for, yeah?

The reason there are carry services for the trials isn't because people are lazy. It's because 90% of people hate them and would prefer to pay someone else to do it so they don't lose their mind attempting it themselves.

Dodge roll = 1 press.

Sprint = Hold.

Yeah, it should be. But it's not. Go look at any stream, or the HUNDREDS of clips of people dying from pressing spacebar too fast. Or the posts here.

They aren't appealing. Items and class mechanics are locked behind them.
Also, don't be scared to use the whole quote and context.
The reason you didn't is because I'm right.

I work 15 days a moth over 200 hours in total. So if I'm at work I'm at work all day. If I'm not at work then I can have my breakfast and play all day. I can manage my time to suit my needs.
