Merchant tab is NOT an upgrade.
Upgrade is definitely not the correct phrasing for switching premium stash tabs to merchant tabs.
1. There's no affinity options on merchant tabs. 2. No access to your tabs until act 4. 3. Only accessible in hideout. 4. Not available in PoE 1, effectively removing content you have payed for. 5. There is no way of reverting the upgrade. It is a SWITCH to a different kind of tab entirely, not an upgrade. I, in my excitement of getting async trade instantly upgraded all my tabs and now I can't play PoE 1 any more. Hope this post maybe prevents anyone else doing my mistake and give us some QoL regarding merchant tabs. I see no reason why we should not be able to have affinity or accessibility to our tabs before act 4. Making the tab "marketable" should be an easy on or off option code wise and it not being that is just bad design imo. Last bumped on Sep 10, 2025, 7:35:15 AM

" It will become a remove only tab and not usable anymore in its current state. |

The fact that you cannot access your tabs until ACT 4 is actually crazy. Not sure what they were thinking on that.
I don't play poe1 but yeah that is absolutely absurd they disappear from that game, they should at least warn you. Last edited by Woogie#5583 on Aug 31, 2025, 12:48:44 PM

The conversion process also provides no details on the Premium tabs in your stash - the custom names are not there (weren't for me, they were just a numbered list) and no indication if the premium stash tab listed had items in it.

" I think this was intentional for New System Launch #1- Keeps Bots from accessing right away, have to get to act 4 to do their thing #2- Limits the amount of players at once, so issues can be addressed quickly before the entire game population get to it. Think about it, 200k ppl access and something is bugged and lose all their items... a lot worse than say 1000 people. I am sure it will change in the future, but it was actually a smart decision to make From a technical and developer viewpoint, remember EA is not for players, it is for Devs. They did warn, they said it several times in the Q and As. They will be removed from POE 1, and when this feature gets added to POE 1, these Merchant tabs will carry over. Clearly no one was listening. |

Also worth mentioning, you can not even store certain items. Uncut gems, currency, essence, runes/soul cores and probably stuff I haven't yet unlocked like delirium etc.
So I REALLY struggle to see how this is an upgrade. A good example of an upgrade is from the normal stash tabs to premium. That's an upgrade. All the core functionality with sugar on top. Some upgrades might strip features in certain cases, where it makes sense. For example deprecated systems being discontinued etc. That is not the case here though, all these systems of storage are usable, especially in PoE 2 where there isn't even tabs for everything. Further more it's very good to have in PoE 1 as well whenever new league items/currencies gets introduced without specific stash support. This is in no way an upgrade. It is a DIFFERENT type of tab fundamentally, and we can't get our old tabs back after conversion? Please help me make sense out of this, ggg. |

" Any experienced developer knows that any obvious problem that can arise from a feature or new implementation will happen in like 99% of cases when you're dealing with a large sample size of consumers. Doesn't matter how much they talked about it, or if they wrote it in the text. This WILL happen without the correct warning steps and correct information being supplied. This is first of all not an upgrade, it's a switch to a different type of tab that is missing A LOT of core functionality. I don't recall hearing anything about that. And that it's not reversable is just extremely weird in my opinion. It means that all that core functionality you payed to have just got joinked from you without that information being supplied. And giving the excuse that players should have watched any type of media to get the information is just... unreasonable. It should be stated CLEARLY and THOROUGLY what you are switching between. This is peoples money, for you maybe that's not a big deal, but for others it is. Last edited by DevourerAdol#4490 on Aug 31, 2025, 7:03:38 PM

Ya gonna say i got tricked heavily into the idea that these tabs are "upgrades" ....
The option offer was not "Convert to a Merchant tab" It is UPGRADE to a Merchant tab. Upgrade means you KEEP ALL OF THE FUNCTION OF THE OLD, WHILE OFFERING NEW FEATURES! There was no mention of them not having the customization options...You cannot use them for storage early game, you cannot use them for storage late game, you cannot customize their color/name....Now I have converted 17 of my old tabs into the new tabs, and I am out of storage options! What the hell GGG.... Make it so that these tabs are actually just "BETTER" premium stash tabs! |

" 100% agreed. I don't even mind them losing functionality if you, let's say "toggle" them to be market tabs, if that was a to-be feature. As long as you can toggle it off etc. at your own whim. |
