[Suggestion] Death penalty design change

lvl100 isnt an achievement, its a boring grind, the death penalty in its current form forces one to stop risking anything and just grind some maps if they are at around 70% xp, and then once you gain a level up, yeah, now its time to risk shit and die 100 times because at 0% xp there is no xp penalty effectively...so what now ? Should GGG implement negative xp for all those people who say how much they love death penalty ? I mean, yeah, i see the potential, imagine being at -1530% xp at lvl 99, must be awesome.

its just boring.
OP suggestion would not change anything in terms of death penalty, it is the same penalty, but instead of sitting at 0-10% xp, you would be able to sit at 40-50% xp, and crawling out to 51% would get you that little progress.

Yes, death penalty penalises the wrong group of people.

No. It won't be like that. Then bang, and you died in a puddle that you didn't even see because you couldn't see anything in the battle. Then bang again, and there was a lag, and you died. And each time you got -10%, because yes, there are omens for -2.5%, but have you seen how much they cost? By the way, at level 97 and higher even -2.5% is very painful!

How much they cost? Explain to me? How much is omen of amelioration?!?
One chaos orb? Two?

Sure if you die 10 times per hour, this cost will add.
But then we are back to what I say : fix your build so you do not die constantly.

Most of us have total death count in the "teens" , maybe early 20. On some characters it is single digit.

And most of those deaths are not 90+ where we have our complete builds, but much early on, on our league starter.

And why you say again "lag"? It is not that major factor for deaths as you describe it...

Maybe you should go back to PoE1. They're still trading for chaos there :) Especially since you're so protective of -10%. By a special kind of show-off or maybe masochism? PoE2 is a completely new game, and this rudiment has no place in it.

im not very smart, to me 12% xp to next level means you are on 88%. perhaps you could explain it easier?
but why bother, just do as i suggested
ever heard of the term KISS

It means if you get to 55% into the level and die you go to 45%. That is now the lowest you can go. Even if you die 10 more times, 45% is still where you go. Now if you complete more maps and climb from 45% to 60% but die, the new floor you cant go below is 50%. Climb back to 80%. New floor on death is now 70% and so on.

No, not masochistic. It barely affects me.

This rule forces me to pay attention to my build. I do. And I have no problem.

And I really am not doing this because sadistic.

If anything, how you feel about it is completely irrelevant to me.

For me it's very simple reward-punish system.

You play good, build smart - you get rewarded.
You don't - you get punished.

The system is logical and fair.
I disagree with the latter. In any case, the decision is up to the developers. If they remove it, it will become more enjoyable to play. If they don't take it away, I'll keep spitting. After all, PoE is not forever, there are more interesting things in the world.

Is this your solution to real life problems too? To "keep spitting" until people give you what you ask for?

And is the decision really in the hands of the developers?

To me it seems that you can make the decision to take few minutes to see what is wrong with your build and stop dying all the time.

But instead you made the decision not to be bothered with it.
Its because the deaths are bullshit.
The reason this will get more attention as time goes on is because the game is so sweaty players have no tolerance for bullshit.

The game just spawned a mob that
1)Shoots me from off screen
2)Teleports on top of me at will.
3)had an aura that prevents me from healing
4)has a physical damage aura draining my HP bar in 1.5 seconds.
5)Souleater.

Do you think you can have an EXP penalty in a game where you
throw that bullshit around.

Well no you can't cause if you do.
Then the devs are literally just giving you the middle finger.
Can't have it both ways ... bullshit content and penalties.
Take your pick.
Guys, the OP does not even suggest removing death penalty. Its the same penalty, all it does is allow you to sit at a snapshot of xp somewhere else other than from 0 to 10%

Overall, less annoying, less frustrating and is more fun to have small wins of even 1% xp gain (after clearing that penalty).
