Seriously - DELETE proximal tangibility
" Okay, I see your goal, but unfortunately poe won't ever provide it. Poe never was fair and balanced and from the long history of poe1 GGG doesn't have the slightest intention of making it fair. Patches just shuffle broken mechanic A with broken mechanic B. You shall die by design, even if you never tried to jump ahead of area level, if you always carefully kited mobs and rerolled maps, and if you vigilantly watched the clusterfuck to the detriment of your eyes. Then you should eat the rollback and buy another supporter pack. Proximal tangibility is one of the cogs which make said design happen, and it is working fully as intended. GGG probably didn't even fix bugged interaction with increased AoE on mobs, which shrinks PT's effective range below mob collision cylinder radius, rendering larger mobs totally invincible. |

Sorry but I don't agree. I died a lot untill level 85 and then less and less the more time I spent and the better I got with my build and knowledge of the game mechanics. Level 98 to 99 died only 3 times and I can spend a more than a month without dying.
Some people also make it far in hardcore. SO I would not be paranoid, yes they want you to grind and not get things easy, but you can still make it to the end. |

Not quite. Imho a diablogame leveling process is well designed when it remains in background and doesn't influence your choices in both content and character. In poe you have to specifically tailor your whole gameplay to leveling to "make it to the end".
From your posts I gather you use long range build, which is one of the main requirements for leveling job. Then you must avoid juiced content and grind excessive amounts of empty maps with no loot. Then you must buy items on trade, to reduce random deaths as much as possible. Then the build must be current patch meta, preferably one-button or even autobomber so you won't make input mistakes while falling asleep from numbing grind. Up to level 90 exp gain is "okay". 90-95 it is annoying. 95+ is for masochists only, and 1 death sets you back for days. If you don't see a problem engaging in such activity, good for you, sincerely. Unfortunately many on this forum would disagree. |

Well let me tell you my story.
I played Bloodmage, but didn't find happiness in this ascendancy. I felt that a homemade cold build was the best option to level and progress. It was based with frost bomb / eye of winter to blind, cold snap, frost wall and comet. No trigger spells. For a long time I didn't use ascendancy and I still went through maps with various mods. It was a methodic tanky - mid range build with still a decent clear. When we could switch ascendancy I switched to Lich so I got a proper boost in defences and dps (13K ES and 1/3 more DPS). Didn't change a thing to this build. It got me to level 99. It was a high APM build and it tired me. To get to 100 I switched back to Bloodmage where I followed a more meta build, but not the one with the spear, I went for Spark build because I always wanted to try spark and I needed more speed. I don't have all the time in the world to get to 100 otherwise I could have stayed Lich / cold. But DPS and speed was not going to cut it, I needed to change the meta build and made a mix between my old build and the spark, to end up with 9k+ ES and good dps. And still I am close to dying at least twice or three times a day. I don't think the game allows you to sleep grind and get away with it. on 10 maps maybe, but then this one combo and you can die. I also do delirium + breach on every map because it's an exp rewarding risk + I still need adrenaline. I play the game my own way, and made my path to the end ( almost, let's not jinx it) and that's how POE2 should be played. Last edited by hypochrist#0488 on Jul 13, 2025, 5:59:00 PM

" I tried selfcast cold sorc back in 0.1, it was the slowest character I ever had. Setting up frost wall or bomb or comet on every mob pack was a waste of time compared to arsonist steamroller or lightning arrow spam (no spear in 0.1). No idea what even was design intention behind those cold spells in a game where your #1 goal is to kill mobs before they rush you. And they nerfed freeze (ailment) several times in a row. Main reason you managed to level up without being full meta is ES, GGG made another weird ear twist by removing max health from the tree, so they had to set enemy damage around lower level of player health without ES. " We really disagree on all levels. The main goal is to have fun first of all. Enjoy your build. It's not all about speed. There are no predefined rules. The recipe for success is to find the right balance between Def and Dps. having mass ES with insufficient DPS will not succeed. I Succeeded because I used my brain and optimised my builds. Simple as that. Wanting to be the fastest is one thing, once I turn 100 I will go full glass cannon. It's another thing to get to 100. Better be slower and not die than fast and die. It's like the Hare and the Tortoise fable. the Tortoise makes it to the Finish line. Even with PT crap ! |

The mod is able to be handled easily by both ranged and melee characters. There are plenty of tools in the game for you to figure it out - use them. Lots of other players have.
As an aside I'm sick of this approach to things in this manner. It's becoming more and more common. This wasn't a "does anyone have any tips on dealing with Proximal Tangibility?" post, it was a straight up, "Get rid of this thing that is causing me grief" post. One of those approaches is respectable, and the other is whiny and entitled. |

Nope disagree, this is actually an interesting game mechanic.
And it's only Rare mobs who have this, not like they're doing bosses with this. |

" This is the only correct way to deal with this other than removing it. |
