GGG, this is not difficulty — it's disrespect

I think the problem is that the rewards scale with the difficulty in such a way that a build that can do the maximum amount of mod effect is so ridiculously favoured it's not even funny. I think some reduction to the reward scaling, or at least to the levels to which the mods can reach, would be a good solution.

Isn't that.....the point though? If you create or bankroll a build that CAN tackle super juiced ultra high end top-of-the-line content, you SHOULD be rewarded and favoured for it. And exponentially, at that. Remember: the builds you talk about require exponentially more currency to even make tiny upgrades at that point anyway. To tackle the exponentially harder and more rewarding content, they also NEED exponentially more rewards to bankroll it.

The investment into a SINGLE map with the exponential returns you describe is the same amount as a mid or even mid-high tier complete build. Multiple divines, or even 10s of divines. And that doesn't even fully guarantee the return. It just makes it more likely. If rewards were scaled down, there wouldn't be any point to that "difficulty level" existing at all. Nor would there be any point for builds to get there.

Again it comes down to a "skill" issue: if you are unwilling to solve the problems in your build, or you are unwilling to change your playstyle to suit the mods you are coming up against then you don't even deserve the rewards. The people who DO put in that effort, deserve the reward. And its those people who also don't complain 24/7 about the mods being unfair. Because they aren't. The explosion of power of the average build (defensive and offensive) nowadays isn't solely because of power creep: it's also because players HAD to figure out the mechanics to overcome the next level of difficulty for the rewards.

There is only laziness here. Laziness and FOMO. The longer these conversations go, the more it rears its ugly head. You get the regular posters who complain saying things like "Why should I have to layer defenses?" or "My build shouldn't be dying". It's almost never "How can I improve my survivability against xyz?", because these types of players have no interest in improvement. They want the game to lower to THEIR level, not the other way around. And they are pissed when others get rewarded for acting differently.

Are there outlier balance issues with skills and builds? Obviously. But they actually aren't nearly as prevalent as the masses think they are. Read through one of the threads complaining about "meta builds" and you'll see the absolutely ridiculous things that people say: the same people who make threads like this.

The only truly REAL problem with rewards is party play. Not anything with the game rewards themselves, but the sheer bonuses you get simply from being in a party that actually makes the game easier and covers a lot of build faults. That is where rewards need to be slashed. The thought process for these loot buffs was presumably because the party members would split the rewards but that simply isn't (and really hasn't ever been) the reality.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

"dont ask devs to take away my reason for feeling special"

okay man, we get it, but many of us just wan't a sandbox experience to mess around with things and many builds only being possible to "experience" through youtube or reddit posts and never actually within reach on a healthy schedule gets pretty boring
POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1.

Sounds a lot to me like "many of you" would have a much better time playing a much easier game like Diablo 4 or Last Epoch, rather than trying to whine your way into getting PoE changed into something it was deliberately created not to be.

"my game!" - heard this one before as well, dont care

"whine" - you only call it that cause you want the opposite thing
POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
