It's not fun anymore
You basically need every single defensive layer to stand a chance.
Max Block/Spell Block Max Suppression Massive HP Pool 6+ Endurance Charges Copious amounts of Armor and/or Evasion 80+ All Resist Immune to Hinder/Corrupted Blood/Maim Reduced Crit Max Chaos Res Etc... If you lack one of these you get absolutely dunked on. Last bumped on Jul 4, 2025, 3:26:38 AM

" Then you manage to stack all these defensive layers and all of a sudden in the most far corner on the map is one little dude with his explosive conconction, rolling crit multi with fire pen and multiple projectiles..... |

while its a little bit hyperbole some things are really annoying.
Suppress is like standard resists. Without it capped every spell at t16 will one shot anything under 10k pool, and that's without map-mods. that seems like a weird design choice. Ah well, this is why i play SC... Current Build: Penance Brand

I clear t16.5 and even t17 fortress with glass cannon. Never failed a map.
Get more damage. Softcore, of course. You reroll bad mods in Hardcore. Maybe you need all of that for supercharged t17, but that's pinnacle content, it makes sense. Last edited by Hornsent#1110 on Jun 26, 2025, 9:22:45 AM

Yeah right. Ignore this guy. Seriously though, I stopped bothering. I run cast on death portal and 50m DPS. It's still super annoying to get one shot, but at least this way I feel like I deserve it. Nothing worse than investing heavily into defences only to get one shot anyways. Mapping is kinda bleh, being annoying but doable, but bossing is easy. I'm saving up for a specific build that will one shot offscreen and never die, but I will probably burn out before then. |

You are 100% correct.
First they introduce a new "optional" defensive layer and then progressively RAISE the power creep of monsters/bosses to make such defensive layer "mandatory". The first alternative is to have pixel-perfect dodging skills, and perfect internet, that likely nothing hits you. The second alternative is to play offscreen builds like EA ballista or hexblast mines (bye bye) because if you see something on your screen in this game then you are already dead. Both alternatives are a terrible way to design an ARPG endgame. Rippy overtuned endgame monster damage (I'm not even talking about mongo stacked map mods) might still be OK if: a) monsters moved slower b) monsters could not offscreen you c) combat situations actually had visual clarity d) monster colors were distinct from surroundng environments (no clarity) e) game performance was not horrible even on good hardware and low settings Yet none of these things are true, and here we are at the inevitable result, including self-casting builds being worse than ever. I look forward to endurance charges getting nerfed in 3.2.7 because...reasons. Last edited by mnieradko#6070 on Jun 26, 2025, 1:51:26 PM
