hahahaha. This entire game IS "pure math". It is a literal equation. Probability is an equation. % increase is an equation. There are NO programming limitations or differences from literal math.

With increased quantity, the specifics of the individual drop DON'T MATTER. That is why its so powerful and desirable.

I think they are suggesting that there might be other hidden modifier in play that makes it non-linear ? (Whether deliberate or from a bug.)

It's not like what is displayed to the players in-game is known to always be truthful...

(But then the burden of proof is on the one claiming it isn't !)

I mean....there mathematically CAN'T be, unless %increased quantity is a lie right from the start. And its a much bigger leap to claim that.

If there was a hidden modifier somewhere in the quantity calculations, that would require an entirely new table of probability values ONLY for those additional items based ONLY at specific values of quantity (those "breakpoints" he mentions). There is simply no way they would do all that extra work for.....no reason. It would be astronomically more complicated. And that would wreak absolute havoc on the base systems and how they interact with each and every additional mechanic that is altering quantity (and rarity).

Untested grave mistake slapped on and snuck in the patch notes at the last minute. what can possibly go wrong?! groups will buy up all the crafting items early and we will be locked out
Remove (One attempt only mechanics) in this game full of lag spikes, one shots and random disconnects.

I gotta say, for anyone who was concerned about this before the league started: you were right to worry. I'm going through the campaign with friends and I have never seen this much currency drop before; I think we had twelve to fifteen alchs drop in act one.

Definitely join public groups if you aren't in SSF.
That sounds fun. As a solo comparison, I had <5 alc drops through acts 1-4.
