A Simple Poll - Exp Loss on Death

"
+0

In Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (D2: LoD), when a character dies in Nightmare or Hell difficulties, they lose a percentage of the total experience required to reach the next level. In Nightmare, the loss is 5% of the total experience required, while in Hell, it is 10% of the total experience required.

As you said, depending on choice of difficulty, XP loss can be different. How about ... "Let me choose my difficulty". Give them option instead of forcing this XP loss. People may be happy with "Don't give me more shiny things but do not take away my progress". It something that Diablo does as well. As you choose higher difficulty, the loot quality and quantity goes up.... Just a thought...
+1 with a few caveats

- If monsters scaled their level up to the 90s, or higher tier maps have a significant XP boost, I could deal with it since it doesn't mean losing hours of time.

- If XP can be recovered on corpse I could deal with it.

- If I only lost the XP from the current map, I could deal with it.

It's not a bad idea in theory, just the way it's currently implemented and balanced is horrible and makes me not want to keep playing at all

Boom you nailed the issue.

POE2 has HC and SC

Can someone please define SC for the rest of us? I think the word SOFT is part of it. No? Maybe XP loss should be in HARDCORE?

then whats the point of glass cannon and leroy jenkins builds? this game is about experimetation, not about being punished from getting away from pawed road of meta builds

Experiment just after leveling up if you're concerned about xp loss?

If glass cannon builds become viable in all content than defensive builds become subpar in all content.

Imo, If theres no punishment for lacking survivability no one would invest in it. And without the death tax, reaching the desired level relies solely on a time commitment, removing most tactics/skill from gaining levels.

Only experimenting after leveling up is ridiculous.

Defensive builds are already subpar. ES is the only good defense at higher levels

Looks overwhelmingly that people want XP loss removed or made optional.

Yes because 20 people on a forum agree on something in a game that has 40-50k current players.

Math checks out.

But isnt this what POE2 has?

Campaign has 0% exp loss
Maps has 10% exp loss
Maps with omen has 2.5% exp loss

Seams to me running endgame content in d2 is harsher then poe2?

And your single point of view somehow carries more weight. Id like to know how many of those stats are bots from chima sellers

Your comment doesnt really make any logical sense seeing as I never gave my view or opinion. I merely presented some numerical stats to put into perspective.
The fact that your annoyed that the numbers dont support your opinion isnt my fault or problem.

Even if some of those numbers are bots it doesnt really matter because even if it was 95% bots then the reactions in this thread would still be less then 1% of the playerbase.

Ok thanks for the information.

Would you like to give additional information on how thats relevant to the stats I presented?

Or how you have concluded that those people quit because of exp loss?
