GGG, XP loss should obviously be on top of the issue queue.
I actually like the xp loss as it shows who sucks and who doesn't.
If your build sucks, you should not be rewarded. You should be made to feel bad. That's what the xp loss is -- the game telling you that you suck ass, and to feel bad about your badness. |

" It's such a clever idea that GGG has basically already implemented it. It's just that your "bag" is your current level instead of the current map. Nobody who bemoans XP loss as the bane of the game seems to ever address this very fundamental fact -- XP loss as currently designed is already capped. You can never lose more than you've gained toward your next level. Put another way, once you have reached a level where you have enough points to support your build, XP loss ceases to impact you. I'm 93 and honestly I'm good -- it wouldn't hurt to have more passive points obviously, but my build doesn't depend on them at all and I'm well on my way to clearing all T4 pinnacle content so at this point my deaths are basically just a hit to morale -- they really don't have any impact on my gameplay. |

XP loss is the single worst thing about POE2. It forces the player to only play trivially easy content if they want to make progress. And the punishment for daring to engage with challenging content is to take away XP you legitimately earned prior to that.
If it must remain just have it take away the XP for that map. They could also backload some of the XP onto map completion with the bonus being decreased depending how many times you died. It could be made better and achieve the same goal in so many ways, there's just no excuse for keeping it in. |

it's not a problem in poe1 and it was never a problem in Diablo 2. In poe1, there's multiple way to level up, you can do sanctum, breach, expedition, bossing, heist, blasting maps, blight, harbinger, delve, etc. You do the content that better suits your build. Poe2 doesnt have that much yet, you have to be patient. I really dont understand why you would try to achieve lvl 100 in an incomplete game, then cry about not being able to. Lvl 100 is not mandatory, it's not even an achievement yet. It's pointless and a waste of time if you can already clear the endgame. |

" When did you last heard of anyone leveling by bossing in poe1 or poe2?:) Exp gain in side league content is only a tiny bit better, but risk of dying is much greater than just mapping. GGG only does 1 type of extra content: timed gauntlet with excessive amount of mobs swarming the player, forcing player to drop caution for the sake of timer, and magnifying various RNG balance issues already present in combat. Sanctum is the only thing not losing exp, but it also barely gives exp. " Poe2 doesn't have much yet, but it sure has all penalties already there and in full effect, before the balancing takes place. It isn't even about whether you really need those few last passive nodes - the very feeling of losing day of progress due to random 0.1sec oneshot is enough. One good thing though - exp penalty combined with poe balance makes any related decisions very simple: as long as it remains, no regrets for leaving whatsoever, and no more support money from me, even if GGG works hard to implement loads of new content. Its almost as bad as the Trialmaster being mean and taunting the player when they die in an Ultimatum in poe 1, makes me wanna turn my voice sound off but I need it on to hear boss cues. This kind of malevolent game design only pushes people away from the game, and that's bad for retention and bad for profits. |
