Bosses are trvialized now

We have so much power creep that bosses are no struggle at all.

It's laughable if it wasn't so sad.

I think one of the main contributors is Ascendancy. It's basically a free support gen per lab you do. no need to care about gear, its just added damage or a large defensive buff... for what is essentially free.

Now, general clearing for white mobs feels good, but bosses could really do with a massive health increase. and I mean massive. Somewhere in the 10x range. It should not take sub 30 seconds to kill mervail. You spend more time waiting for her to shift forms then the actual damage phases.

Players need to be encouraged to learn boss mechanics and plan accordingly. Learning to use 2x sapphire rings is a crucial learning experience for new players when fighting mervail and that already trivializes the received damage. and that's OK... but damage should not be so good that you can do sub 30 seconds.

You guys did a good job not that long ago when improving boss fights... but then you went ahead and MASSIVELY buffed damage... you can leave regular white mobs alone... but 10x the health of bosses...please. The fights themselves are not bad, you just kill them so quick you never see the phases, or feel inclined to dodge.

EDIT:

I used mervail as a simple example and yes I know, you wont have ascendanced yet. Ascendancies just make it worse going forward.

This is what happens when a game just keeps stacking player power with each patch—damage increases and buffs without adjusting base difficulty.
PoE1 is beyond saving, even a heavy nerf might not fix the power creep.
Back in the earlier days, a few million damage was a milestone, but now it’s just something you get by clicking a few passive points and getting to maps with shoelace gear. Now, several to hundreds of millions in damage are the norm at endgame. The same issue shows up in the campaign, where you’ve got too much power for content that’s far too weak.

What PoE needs is content that scales up to challenge builds, like T18+ maps or something similar to Last Epoch’s endless scaling difficulty, along with a heavy nerf to bring power in line with the content.
But well, isn't that the whole reason PoE2 exists? Since even the devs publicly acknowledged PoE1 is a mess and beyond saving in this regard?
Think the issue is you're expecting too much out of early act bosses.

The act bosses, especially early on are expected to be faced with very sub-optimal gear.

In comparison, my level 100 can't complete t17s (not enough damage, and despite defenses with high regen block and 90% elemental resists still not enough, at least when it comes to the boss)

My SSF from Phrecia is level 96. Her first run at Shaper was deathless, but she doesn't do enough to finish off Uber Atziri.

I'm just saying, it doesn't make that much sense to criticize aspects of the game you haven't even experienced, especially when basing your perspective on the part of the game that takes 3-6 hours for the better players. I still usually take at least a day to get to maps, tho I could shave a lot of time if I really wanted, just not streamer level pacing.
Yep, totally over league play.
Says the guy that barely plays the game. Unless merveil is all you do.
In fact the game needs exactly the opposite. BUFFS.
GGG needs to buff skills and the passive tree. Passive tree is a joke when you have to invest more than your gear just to get minor upgrades.

It's always them. Complaining about PoE is too easy and that your character one shots everything, yet they never even build a character to collect all 4 voidstones.

But who cares, they have PoE deuce right now and the meaningful combat on top
People are making some pretty big assumptions in the replies that i haven't done hard contend.

How did you come to this assumption?

Also why do we have to get to a certain point in the game to get to tougher bosses. Act bosses should be milestones.

What are you talking about? Why are you bringing streamers into this. This is my personal experience. Experience that started 12 years ago to now.
