Poe 2's Negative Reviews on Steam Are About to Exceed 30%
" and half those players are bots, lol. not even a meme |

" 1. because if it does well then it will make ggg and other devs think they should make more games like it ( bad ). it's why a lot of games have been bad, even poe 1. toxic positivity is ruining gaming and society as a whole. 2. the game only has a positive review score from simpy basement kiddos that were giving poe 2 positive reviews while they were waiting at the login screen for 8 hours on launch day. you can go and read them " stuck in log screen for 8 hours but still better than d4 kekw" that's like half the positive reviews the game has. from npcs that fell for the #ad and shill hype |

" this reads like the dude from brazil that watches these hype build guides on YT with people smiling like they just did crack and watches the most shill streamer. their reply is barely english. ofc they believe w.e. ggg and shills say through google translate the only reason poe 2 did well was their marketing campaign to #ad and #shill the game to getting less players on steam than pubg gets on a average day. Even moist kritical had to admit he fell into the hype echo chamber with everyone he knew saying it would be the best game ever. and 50% of players were bots for the first 2 weeks and people have put out evidence that explains why. |

" I don’t review Early Access games based on factors exclusive to Early Access. I don’t personally see any value in doing that. "VPs are not required to change their posting style. They are still welcome to express their opinions and take part in any discussions they wish. Their only responsibility is to continue doing what they have always done - posting in a friendly and constructive manner."

" So you're reviewing a hypothetical game that does not exist yet, and have not played outside of early access, but may exist in some non-early access form some time in the future? Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Apr 29, 2025, 9:32:18 PM

" Path of Exile II having a buy-in price is like it having X number of acts or Y classes. The data is ephemeral. GGG are making PoE 2 instead of simply performing in-place updates because they want to make fundamental changes to the game without 'taking away' the current game. Now, you can agree with those changes or disagree with them - and Steam reviews for PoE 2 strike me as being an excellent place to discuss the merits and drawbacks of such changes. Currently we're watching negative reviews for the sequel mount, which I don't consider to be unfair. People don't need to be told that a game in Early Access isn't finished yet, kind of like how people who accessed a Steam review by going to the game's store page and being prominently shown the price of the game before scrolling down to the reviews don't need to be informed it isn't yet F2P. I believe I'm in the majority of people who don't regularly go back to older reviews they've left and update them (and play for hours to have the information to do so..?). As a consequence, I attempt to write reviews that have the greatest possible chance of standing the test of time. Some of PoE 2's already implemented changes include disconnecting sockets from equipment, and introducing limitations to re-using the same support gems. There are plenty of more design changes that one has no reason to expect to change in future that one could comment on in a Steam review of PoE 2. Specifically choosing to focus on information that you know has a shelf life seems very strange to me; at that point, one may as well exclusively leave a review written in response to the latest patch's patch notes and just accept their review will soon be irrelevant. Or, indeed, one just as well may not bother writing a review at all. I appreciate sarcasm as much as the next guy, but there comes a point when behaviour is obnoxious. I was first treated to a "well, akshually" in response to one sentence out of a 45-sentence post which made no apparent effort to consider any of the points being made. Now I'm getting a post which is 100% trying to be snide or dismissive; 0% attempting to be civil or constructive. I have clarified my meaning in case anyone else was also curious, but I won't be engaging with that particular community member again. If someone isn't interested in having a genuine and respectful exchange of views, I'm not sure they're worth bothering with. "VPs are not required to change their posting style. " I assume it's better to be slightly toxic-positive simp who believes in the good future, than being a spoiled QQ redditor tho Remember the storm when Chris made Exalt -> Divine change? The reddit was on fire and all the dwellers of softcore basement went apeshit |

PoE 2 being EA is and label to give approximate expectations to players but is still no excuse for bad quality as mentioend by Jonathan when the question about Eary Access was mentioned at @2:6:40. So "it's still EA // it's EA give them a break // EA this, EA that EA.." is no excuse for bad quality and the product should speak for itself at any given time. So right now (0.2 patch) it currently is deserved to have (recent) negatives reviews but perhaps it changes to mixed or even positive if content/features are more enjoyable. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0#5532 on Apr 30, 2025, 7:09:45 AM

They are trying to have the best of both worlds. It is early access, incomplete with bugs and changes, insufficient support and relying on players to test. While marketed as a game that is having leagues launches, cost players to access and is selling microtransactions. Either is fine, but doing both and trying to have the best of both worlds on the developers side will cause problems if there is not a benefit for the players of having it that way.
I do not remember them speaking about early access until very shortly before the release of the game. It had been in the works for years and the release date was delayed multiple times. I have been surprised by how incomplete it is. I did not expect the end game to be functional, as that gets developed over the lifetime of the game when leagues get added. I did expect the campaign and characters to be ready to go. I don't remember them saying through all the delays, btw it may be x months/years before campaign and classes are complete. A lot of this could of been assumed in hindsight, but to me it sounded like they were hyping up the game as being ready to launch. People who had been allowed to play the game may well of known this was going to be the case, but it is 6 months on and there does not yet appear to be any date for the the game coming out of early access, and from what I have seen, it looks to be some way off.
