How Elden Ring Caused the Downfall of PoE2 and PoE1
Elden Ring is the worst game I've ever bought in my life, an empty boring world of faded yellow color, 0 interesting builds, I played as a mage and paladin and katanas, it's just terribly boring. The hype around the game made me give the game a chance again and again, but the game is just terribly boring.

[Removed by Support]. They made the game hard when most gamers wants easy games, and succeeded anyways. Everyone is baffled, nobody gets it, and minorities like me that likes hard games were thrilled.

Succeeded in what exactly? In bringing milion "tourists" who played this game like a story game (aka finish it once and forget it exists)? We havent seen their financial reports from PoE Two yet, so there is literally no proof that they "succeeded". Steam numbers mean nothing if those numbers dont bring money.
Or maybe you mean it succeeded in getting bigger numbers on brand new game than old game has after 8 months w/o update? Last edited by Aynix#7757 on May 11, 2025, 5:15:14 AM

Elden Ring is trash, would rather play niche medieval mmo where you are able loot players pants and do parkour for ambush.

If there's a game I'd blame for having a negative influence on the industry, it would be fortnite, not because of what it is, but how so many companies have tried to chase its success instead of forging their own path.
I think its silly to blame elden ring for Poe 1 and 2 issues. Poe 1 has had plenty of complaints over the years, and screen clutter has been pretty common for years, so Poe2 going for a slower pace was never a surprise. Hard games is nothing new either - quite a few console games that were rough and we didn't have the luxury of looking things up on the internet (most of that time anyway). Years later, I still haven't forgotten the pain of dodging 200 lighting strikes consecutively just to unlock a legendary weapon. I didn't even try Super Ghosts and Goblins. If anything, I think they're going to have a harder time balancing the slower pace and still have it feel rewarding without it being too much or too sparse. Given that its based around repetition and rng, I mean.... Yep, totally over league play.

" Succeeded huh? By some very narrow measure, lol, why not, sure. Succeeded in creating something great in gaming? Nah The obsession of recreating PoE into what he originally wanted it to be is doomed. All the old mistakes are being repeated with every patch...it's so tedious. Path of Tedious |

" Kinda mind blowing that they still can't manage their own defensive layers, PoE just solved it by stacking layer upon layer, but the basics have been unbalanced since launch. Now it is literally the same as 2013 with PoE2. |

They make same mistakes because they dont consider it mistakes. Thats the main problem.

Every single time a so-called "PoE killer" has emerged, be that Last Epoch, Diablo 4, Wolcen, Mario Kart or whatever, people with actual brains have always said that the only thing that can kill PoE, is GGG.
Seems like we were right after all. I will wear black at the funeral. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" there's even a mod that increases boss hp because you can outscale them too hard lmao Last edited by CAPSLOCK_ON#7907 on May 12, 2025, 1:40:15 PM
