I hate to say this but - It's boring.

I think there's a large portion of players that are not coming back at all. If they do it's only because they are bored.

The reason is because it's stil Acts 1-3 and Cruel 1-3. And they are thinking, "I don't want to do that for another League."

Most people are dropping of because of the boring Campaign and the Trials that are boring.

Those that make it to End Game also get bored quickly.

I'll probably play Huntress to Act 3 and when I feel the slog, I'll stop.

I think a lot of people are feeling the Progression, Pacing during Acts 1-3 and the Trials and they are. I've talked to a lot of people and that's what they say. I've seen a lot of this talk around online as well.

If your 'hypothesis' was correct, then the same would apply to poe1.

Clearly not the case. Campaign in a non-factor for most dedicated players who enjoy the rest of the game.

If you mentioned the lacking endgame/crafting/build variety, then we could have a discussion, since I agree in part.

If you are bored, why not play something else for a time?

Why are you pretending like you didn't know what the early access was about either... if you expected a deep end game and full completed game, you set yourself up for failure.

If you can't make it through the campaign and find entertainment, the game clearly isn't for you. The campaign is only going to get bigger and it will be even less fun for you. Might wanna save some time for yourself and just find another game to play.

A person can also say that a large portion of the player base stopped playing to wait for a large update. In less than a week, we can all find out how many of these holdouts/doomsayers will return.

Return for what? A reskinned lighting Ranger? Meh.

Ya I wouldn't know. Haven't even heard anyone talk about this game outside of the early access forums. I mean mention here and there sure.. just not discuss. Never seen any mention positive or negative about early access it's just a name of a game tossed into conversations now and again.

Personally since I paid for early access it's not like playing 0.2.0 costs me anything. There isn't exactly some great new game at least for me. Outside of playing the same games I've been modding for years now.

In fact the only reason I stopped playing was I became of victim of the nvidia power cable "fun". Finally got that sorted and now I'm back... except I saw 0.2.0 was coming this next week so I took a break until then.

Will others come back? No clue because as I said I don't ever see anyone talking about this game other than here.

The vanity metrics PoE 2 defenders will probably be happy with the numbers of the next patch. PoE is now mainstream so people are forced to play it no matter what. That's just what gaming is now. If you don't play it you become a social gaming pariah and the streamers will make fun of you.

I'm happy that they didn't add FOMO challenge rewards to pump the vanity metrics further. I haven't had time to watch the full reveal yet but from reading the summary it doesn't seem that there's enough to get me interested. I can just sit back and wait for them to cook more and not miss anything. More time to work on my backlog.

Nobody sane cares what streamers think and/or play. They each have a loud group of fanboys, but in the grand scheme of things, they are insignificant.

People play poe2, because it IS a good game - it could've just been a lot better to start with - but they will get there.

People who cannot make it repeatedly through a campaign will never really enjoy Path of Exile. It is a game about grinding. The campaign is quick and takes no effort at all compared to the grind in the endgame.
