Posting someone's own words isn't really an attack, it's just a fact. Either RMT is against the rules, or it isn't. When someone is clearly RMTing, and admit as much. It seems pretty clear cut to me?

No hard feelings one way or the other for the individual in question, but rules are rules. I've been around long enough to see many people banned for breaking that particular rule. If its no longer enforced, even if its only during the beta period of PoE 2, players deserve to know.

The moderation clearly don't share your take on this . No matter of how factual the accusations can be , they won't allow public trials here ( which means personal information is systematically removed ) . Unless you got some examples of previous events where they allowed the community to openly & publicly target another player right here , and that player ended up banned for it , it's just what it is : Musk is not a special case .

Quin had his wife on live stream pilot Quin's character , nobody cared & he certainly was not banned from it .

If someone is seen at publicly televised events while their account remains active.

If someone consistently has some of the best gear in the league across multiple characters without engaging in trading themselves, aside from selling junk items for dozens of ex/divs.

If they demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding of basic game mechanics, despite being in a top position on the leaderboard.

And then if they also fully admit to it, maybe believe them?

Again, not about any singular individual. This is the sanctity of the global leaderboards. I take great interest in watching top level players compete. Allowing this kind of behavior, which has been disciplined in the past, threatens fair competition. I would hate for the next gauntlet to be run with these kinds of tactics at play, it ruins the spirit of the game.

But how does a competitive practice even exist with the playerbase not caring or aware of such things?

GGG, from my limited knowledge, don't partake in monthly competitive behavior checks and balancing and what does the leaderboard actual consist of to determine poling? Just levels? A "gear stat"?

This is extremely low bar competitive but you do you but in my eyes and I'm sure plenty of other peoples who play this as mainly a solo experience, this is an incredibly low priority issue that GGG really shouldn't need to invest much time or money over, to like say moderate. This isn't the 90's or early 2000's either, we don't determine skill by leaderboards (perhaps if you're as old and out of place as Elon Musk is socially maybe...), there's streamer content and esports events to easily determine and enjoy skilled gaming.
