The unique items are pure dogshit
Make uniques great again.

Part of the problem is that uniques only seem to use basic basetypes (as opposed to advanced or expert), meaning that their base stats will always be terrible after the early game, even if they happen to have a large % increase. Hopefully it's just because the basetypes are not yet completely finished.

" I literally made a post yesterday in regards to the unique bow I got and was flamed for it. I will say this again and I will die on this mountain…..if I have to look up a guide on how to make a unique work that’s a Loss. |

" I mean that guy has a point, many Uniques on D4 actually is actually viable for many builds from early to endgame content Then again, i think mainly because gear affix in D4 were designed to modify specific skill, while gear affix in POE are meant to further improve your base stat. Two different principles, two different results |

" Uniques in poe1 but also other games like d2.... had valuable and crap. D2 had e.g. a massive unique rework.. making it better but didnt fully hit it. I found it slightly worse than d2 and poe1.. Sometimes i thought -> upgrade recipes to update item class would help ..and some form of def/def stats..life/mana /es/res on the item.. Had also hope to see new things.. unique item sets (which if worn add additional bonus) or set items,.. maybe even runewords or so.. uniques which can be evolved or lvled or crafted.. i dont know..something new/else. At east corrupt option exists ..(double corrupt..) Last edited by Storylyne#1859 on Jan 1, 2025, 11:22:22 AM

Yeah, sadly, most uniques are garbage. Some are nice/niche and some are OP and worth multiple divine orbs due to them being tied to the already few very OP builds/gems.
I hate that uniques only have one "base" version. Some of them would be decent with an Advanced or Expert version (while some other would be way too strong if they did, and obviously do not require any upgraded version). I see uniques as leveling tools for new characters or in the case of those with a very unique effect but low stats, as a build defining item with poor stats. " Unique in Diablo 2 were great until runewords made them largely irrelevant. Even so, they did a great job at low to mid-level uniques, giving them not only stats but interesting effects to make them useful. Then you had uniques like Wolfhowl that you could build around, not to mention being just downright fun. |

" A fair amount was really trash and it depended also how you played the game.. some liked to play early game with 50 mules.. or had 20 chars equipped..some just rushed through into 90s (in classic), or to 98/99/100 in lod.. i was from the lazy fraction.. beat the game, beat the ubers..next run. In last years before d2r i saved me from 7000 baal / dia runs 98-100. There was alot of lvl trash.. but with ability to upgrade the items ..so some became or remained useful in endgame.. however.. chase items existed making many uniques on same spot lvl item.. or meme. If you are quick.. a simple helm with 3 ral (redistance) runes could have been better than many uniques.. Runewords became quite strong ..the lvl req for some of those was too low .. a second rework was needed but only came partially via mods. In addition duping / rune copy and access via trade trivialized it more. In a fair amount of playthroughs.. i didnt find a ber or even a hr.. |

They did not fail on uniques. it is their concept. They got it from the content of magic booster packs where 99% of the rares jsut suck so you have to buy a new pack to maybe get that one rare that is busted ;P That's just how it is and they doubled down on it in poe2 it looks like^^
