The unique items are pure dogshit

"
i dont think most of the items are in the game yet.

the items seem tied to the areas, so in act2 we get the keth raiment etc, items look maraketh, the base types that start dropping in act 3 look vaalish.

...and then the game loops, so theyve just got the bases from act1-3 and put advanced and then expert or whatever on the front of the names. im almost certain those are just placeholders surely? the actual bases that drop in acts 4-6 will be themed around those acts, we will get karui looking bases maybe in act4 etc and all these repetitions of bases will be deleted from the game.

we dont have swords yet, 1h or 2h right? axes? no daggers? flails? javelins? theres so many bases for weapons etc not even in the game.

i dont think this is the item system and i dont think these are all the uniques. i think the reason almost all the uniques are low level stuff is because only the low level bases are in the game.

those levelling uniques fill a role for people just playing, theyre new, theyre self found, theyre wearing blue boots with 35 life and 15 stun thresh and suddenly unique boots with 20% movespeed and lightning res and max res and stuff on them drop and its cool. thats what those kind of items are for, theyre not for the trade economy endgame blaster players to ever really have a use for, unless they also find them day 1 of the league while levelling.

i do agree, ive not seen anything really exciting yet with the uniques. but i think by the time this game goes full release with 6 acts and all the classes there will be 100s of uniques in the game that are not in the game now.

i think the game has a lot of development still to do, its great but so much is so far off where it could and should be. its just gonna be a process of iteration, feedback, trial and error. to me the game feels about a year away from being fully cooked.

Except those unique boots are not going to drop when you need them.
every single unique in the game should serve a purpose and be "powerful" for a certain amount of time. Not for every build, but at least SOMEWHERE.

If it's NOT in any circumstance, or it can easily be replaced within a level.....it shouldn't exist. Period.

Just because there are a few "good" ones, does nothing to excuse the majority bad ones.

And GGG isn't stupid....they KNOW what stats are important pretty much across the board. Uniques should at least have ONE useful stat, at a magnitude much higher than the same level rare item (but not too high ofc).

Every unique should also, at its core, BE UNIQUE. One or two mods should be things you can't find anywhere else: not on the passive tree, not on rare gear, not even on a different PIECE of gear altogether. A boot mod on a unique glove....doesn't make it unique.

And, maybe this is a hot take, but "troll" uniques shouldn't exist either. Veil of the Night? Should have never been made, even if someone paid for it to be made.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

There are a few really good uniques. If you are level 10.
This game has changed so much mechanically since its first conception and I think it's ruined a bunch of stuff. Like Tabula Rasa used to give you three extra skill slots or something but now it's six rune slots which is basically useless. Like oh goody I can have 60% resistance and no other stats on my chest armor. Whoop de fucking do.
Last Epoch's Legendary Potential and Weavers Will solved this issue mostly, weird weaker uniques have higher values often vice versa.
We need to be able to upgrade uniques somehow so they are relevant, even if there are some uniques with effects you want to try and use their stats are so dogwater you just cannot.

Uniques should ALWAYS feel good to get, it's a shiny orange drop if you are a casual or new player that should feel exciting. ALL uniques should be good, these things are excellent for guiding a new player to a functioning build "oh I got this weird item but it has good stats lets play with it".
I think uniques should be closer to d4's than poe1's. Keep the chase ones but also add some special ones without the utterly stupid penalties which brick the item from any usability.

Boss has some sort of nasty glaive? Make that a unique, make it hit hard and give it unique appearance.
A lieutenant has a cool helm? Make him drop it with a low chance.

That's how it should be. Uniques ATM feels like some artificial insert of cool looking gear no one will use. Perhaps Poe2 should consider D4 tmog system

I doubt this one will ever happen because of MTX. They want you to buy appearances for your items and not collect them ingame.

And yet D4 still sells MTX without issues, even with 40$ skins. This is just an excuse not a valid argument.
+1

absolute trash.

A few help late game but most are only good to help an alt very very early on due to level requirements.

So far 99.9% of the collected items are worse than garbage.

99% garbage and 1% ridiculously OP.
