Why So Much Complaining on MF vs Resistances Or Other Stats?

MF is bad design. It needs to be integrated naturally into gameplay or drops should otherwise be balanced such that self finders can be self reliant. Every other stat is as classic as any other ARPG and is part of the grind to find the ones right for your needs and build. No one should feel compelled to build for MF or create a MF character just so they have a reasonable pace of upgrades and currency drops going into maps.

Doesn't the "classic" ARPG D2 have magic find to this day? Is it considered ruined? Not trying to be snarky, I guess I just don't get it. Currency should never be affected by MF, I think we can all agree on that.

Yes, D2 has it and the problem is many times greater there. Back in the day D2 didn't actually have any pinnacle bosses or anything so literally the only thing to do in the game was equip MF gear and kill 1 boss over and over because it was so much better than farming anywhere else, and then there was no point in using the gear cause your character was already finished. MF made the gear it found meaningless.

Yet it still considered one of the best if not the most loved ARPG of all time? I am so confused. I still don't see the harm in having it.

This is the only ARPG on the market in which the "magic find" stat applies to raw currency drops. For example, in Diablo 2, MF applied to items, but it didn't apply to runes, the de-facto currency.

An argument could be made that MFing to produce more good items would help keep the price of good items lower.

An argument can be made that MFing to produce raw currency, particularly if there aren't any good currency sinks to destroy that currency (attractive high-end crafting), will cause currency inflation and make everything outrageously priced for the average gamer.

You could argue that the two should off-set each other -- there's more currency but there are also more good items, but that argument assumes that players are picking up and identifying all those good items.

Why not just have MF affect equipment drops and not currency. That seem fair?

Yes. That system can actually help new people gear up, in theory. When someone has an amazing character and can squeeze in MF that allows them to get more items while still running top-end content, that should produce more desirable items in the game's economy and keep prices down (relatively speaking).

Having MF produce more raw currency is probably a big mistake, because the ultra-speed blasters are likely just gonna pick up the currency and leave a lot of unidentified items on the ground.
Yep, I am 100% for MF just adding to more and better gear, not more currency. We can agree on that.

I am just scratching my head that so many are complaining about MF as a stat vs babysitting every type of resist and you keep getting more penalties as you progress. Do most of you complaining about MF really find resist penalties and finding those stats on gear "fun and rewarding?" Or even light radius, or anything else besides MF that we could trim.

I am all for "resist all" as a stat but having to get the max for each type of damage is stupid IMHO

No this is bad for SSF. Either nuke it or leave it, there is no middle ground.
The complain people have for MF is for currency drop, it was never about gear drop.
Lesson was learned near the end of Diablo 2 patching. Maybe GGG should take a look.
3 things a good ARPG should never ever have:

1.) MF stat on gear (especially if it counts towards currency drops aswell)
2.) On death effects
3.) Doors

and if you want to expand that list a little:

4.) Levers

D2 does have MF. Do you know what you do if you want to play a Hammerdin in D2? Roll a MF Sorc to farm gear for it. Do you know what you do to play a singer Barb? Roll an MF Sorc and farm gear for it. Do you know what you do to play a Bowazon?
