Why So Much Complaining on MF vs Resistances Or Other Stats?

"
TLDR: I am absolutely loving this game. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it still Early Access just a few weeks after launch? Yep. That being said, I keep seeing people freaking out about how unbalanced or bad MF is and how it needs to go away. I got really lucky with some drops, gambling, and vendor purchases in Acts 1-2 normal. I ran all the way through to the end of Cruel campaign around 85% MF and I didn't hardly use any drops. I didn' have a ton of currency and 99% of my crafts were a waste.

I keep seeing people complaining about how bad and unbalanced MF is yet do people really find joy in constantly juggling resistances? That to me is so much more boring and a pain. Open to thoughts.

MF affecting currency might be overtuned, but in general..? Since PoE2's gotten so popular I think its come with a bunch of followers of different youtubers swarming the forums. A popular youtuber puts out a video about how magic find is terrible for the game, and we get a dozen 'MAGIC FIND IS DESTROYING THE GAME'S ECONOMY' titles. Same for complaining about armour, someone puts out a video about it a couple of days ago and now we have that shouted everywhere. Some points are valid, but then some people clearly just look at the high end of gear and assumes the entire game has lopsided balance (see life vs. energy shield where people assume 6k energy shield is something you can just go into end game with while pushing 4k life is impossible).
I keep reading all these reasonings but I don't see why MF for equipment (definitely not currency) is not a valid stat. It's a risk/reward system that I personally love. We have to find armor/evasion/magic shield/fire resist/cold resist/chaos resist but you are worried that MF stat is wasting a gear affix? That is insanity. How about finding a fully affixed piece of loot in endgame that has amazing stats but no resists. That is garbage IMHO.

Also, the mix/maxers are always going to go nuts, no matter what system is in place. I have been running maps all day on 85% MF and I am not getting much gear or currency that is selling or of note.

I agree with this.
MF is bad design. It needs to be integrated naturally into gameplay or drops should otherwise be balanced such that self finders can be self reliant. Every other stat is as classic as any other ARPG and is part of the grind to find the ones right for your needs and build. No one should feel compelled to build for MF or create a MF character just so they have a reasonable pace of upgrades and currency drops going into maps.

Doesn't the "classic" ARPG D2 have magic find to this day? Is it considered ruined? Not trying to be snarky, I guess I just don't get it. Currency should never be affected by MF, I think we can all agree on that.

That's exactly the problem MF is NOT a risk VS reward because some build can run it at no risk and some can't. Many popular build in the end game right now can stack 300-400%+ MF whit no real downside on their kill speed or durablity and others will die horribly if they even go above 100%.
I am loving the game. It was a slog - then I got ~150 rarity and I am actually starting to feel rewarded. All my maps (waystones) are fully alched (rare) and my atlas is pure rarity/quantity & waystone drops. Go FULL greed on every single possible choice and you will start seeing the rewards.

It was slow. But I have played poe for a long time so I have played some sad leagues. At first I thought of this as that, but then once I finally got a divine and a 5 socket orb a week or so ago now and since I have been slowly adding rarity to my gear as I felt like making a loot filter is pointless. That is a bad thing for me. So I jack up my waystones, my atlas, and with my rarity, at the moment, it feels rewarding. Sure, I am still not getting like raw divines or anything, WHICH WOULD HELP TREMENDOUSLY, but I am still having some fun.
Yeah MF is literally the worst stat ever invented.
