From 580k to 390k drop after two weeks.

As the unofficial console community spokes..person, I'd like to state that these numbers are much worse on console. The end game is largely based on trading using an external website. Consoles cannot suitably navigate a website, cut, and paste into a game.

Honestly it’s impressive they are keeping the numbers as high it means it’s doing outstanding not even including console numbers.

For a game starting with 500,000 players, you'd expect probably 20 - 30% retention.

100,000 to 150,000 players remaining after one month for an average game.

Outstanding games will tend to retain 50% which is exactly where we are.
most console players are going to just quit. We aren't even allowed to have a loot filter while PC gets to use them.

There's not a worse feeling than being a console peasant
Which is fair these games aren’t really designed console first, but I’m sure a filter will come closer to release.

Also d4 didn’t or still doesn’t have a console loot filter so the fact that you’ll likely get one is awesome.

In the meantime on console I would prioritize gems and currency which should be sufficient enough money to fund a character or two while that issue is worked out. I’ve been successful setting up every class in the game at completing tier15-18 content with little more then 1D-2D a piece which shouldn’t be much of an issu regardless of the platform you play on.

A larger issue is trade being through the website but that affects all players. That said you’d be insane to look at the numbers and suggest the game is doing poorly when it’s doing what many live service games can only dream of. Recent mmos didn’t even perform this well.

Games like new world and lost ark couldn’t even manage to maintain 20-30%. Not to mention arpgs are far from the most popular game genre.

The hype may be wearing down now which is understandable it’s an incomplete game we may dip down to 75-100k players but that would still be fantastic and once this game releases for free assuming work continues it’s primed to pop off again down the road.

These seasonal games will always have ups and downs though as people check out a season complete what they want and check back later. It’s nothing to be alarmed about.
