From 580k to 390k drop after two weeks.

Gotta wait until the first month and holidays are over to see retention. Lot of people buying and taking vacation, plus the first week is rifle with streamers messing up all the numbers. You also don't have access to new players and their retention. We also never have access to console numbers. Guaranteed there are a ton of console players that never stuck with poe1.

I stopped because the game lacks the flexibility to respec and recut gems without an insane amount of grinding, so I'm going to whine about it here until I get my money's worth. I'll eventually dip out and check back and read through a few dozen patches to see if they buffed my drops.

Poe1 player count: 10k

I think it's time to change poe1 to be more like poe2 based on this data.

The data shows rapid player loss.

I also agree that we should make POE 1 lose its player base.

Literally how every new release graph looks with very few exceptions. No game on the planet retains its initial numbers and the drops are almost always absolutely massive. A lot more massive than this one.

Taking that number and then pretending it says anything at all about anything just shows a massive lack of understanding in how concurrent player charts look like for new games. Do you realize how small the percentage of players is that goes as far as to even write a forum post? Or watch the game on twitch? Or watch a guide? Or do LITERALLY ANYTHING else related to gaming outside of said game?

It's actually a pretty decent / mild drop in the grand scheme of new releases.

I can urge everyone who clearly doesn't understand this to go look up some more graphs on steamdb.

so it's behaving like any other game. Most new games won't even keep you hooked for more than a week.

And it's early access god dammit, people treat it like it's full release.
33% loss after two weeks is success. Every game have peak player count at release, and it drops by 50%-70% after first month, depends on the game or league success.

Diablo 4: https://steamdb.info/app/2344520/charts/#max

I was too powerful, God had to nerf me.
For how bare bones the game is the retention % is INSANELY high. It's a massive W for GGG thus far.
I'd ignore these threads. They're not trying to legitimately point out anything real, they're just trying to drive people away from playing the game because they don't like it.
just over 300k on a holiday weekend. people leaving quick.
MAy I suggest another game like diablo 4? Clearly you're not happy and thats ok. Not every game is for you.

Ciao

Those are very good retention numbers.
