POE2 Shutdown of my PC: A fix
I want to add my specs and some observations
Intel i9 9900k RTX 4090 64gigs of ram No matter what I do I see very little to no change to cpu usage. If I change to Vulcan/dx11 the usage stays at around 50% with frequent spikes at 100. I have done no over locking. I’ve tried Turing on Hardware accelerated gpu scheduling to see if that would have any effect and nothing. It’s doesn’t make any sense. |

Hello everyone! My problem is: after 2-3 hours of playing poe 2, my PC just turns off. Today after such a shutdown, it began to turn off after a few minutes of playing. Before this, I did not have such problems in any other game. Do I understand correctly that the problem is in the game itself and not the hardware of my PC?
Here are my PC specifications: RX 7600 I3-12100F 16 gb ddr4 Can we somehow help the developers fix this problem faster? Please help, I am an ordinary bank employee, I want to play POE 2 but I cant... | |
" Have the same problem. Mid map it just shuts down, albeit with far worse stats. I7 7700k RX 7600 16gb ram PSU 550w Thermal paste has been freshly re-applied before the release of EA so basically 1-2 weeks ago. Heat is not the problem, nor is PSU overdrawing. No faulty hardware. €: Started crashing after last patch. Doesn't shut down during Ultimatum or Sanctum. Only in maps if that has any importance. I've found an actual fix for this, no crashes since yesterday morning after adding these launch arguments.
Launch Options to Add: --noasync --softwareaudio --nopreload --gc 2 What These Do: --noasync: Disables asynchronous asset loading --softwareaudio: Forces the game to use software-based audio processing --nopreload: Prevents preloading of assets --gc 2: Adjusts the garbage collection strategy for more aggressive cleanup How to Add Launch Options For Steam: Open your Steam Library. Right-click on Path of Exile and select "Properties." Under the "General" tab, find "Launch Options." Paste the following line: --noasync --softwareaudio --nopreload --gc 2 Close the window, and you're good to go! For Epic Games Store: Open the Epic Games Launcher. Go to "Settings" (bottom-left corner). Scroll down to Path of Exile and expand the options. Check "Additional Command Line Arguments." Paste the following line: --noasync --softwareaudio --nopreload --gc 2 For the Standalone Client: Locate your Path of Exile shortcut or executable. Right-click and select "Properties." In the "Target" field, add the following at the end of the path: --noasync --softwareaudio --nopreload --gc 2 Click "Apply" and then "OK." |

Funny enough I’ve had success with changes I’ve made. I can’t tell you which made the difference but I’ll post everything I did just incase.
1) I turned off hdr in the display settings (in the recent windows update known issues list it talks about disabling this) 2) I set fps to max 60 3) set vsync to off 4) I’m using dx12 but set shadows down to low all options. Textures to medium. Water details to low. 5) triple buffering and dynamic culling are both off. 6) nvidia dlss is on and set to quality with dynamic resolution on 7) enabled hardware acceleration I mentioned earlier. Since doing all the above I’ve had stable 30 ish cup usage, gpu usage has been 40-90 depending on what’s going on screen wise. Temps have been great. The cpu graph in poe 2 has been below 10 which is better than it was before (10+ constantly) As a note I still get the big gpu spikes when loading into a zone. Played since 1100 am until 3 with out a single crash. Here’s hoping that it remains this way. |

" Check your BIOS: do you have XMP active? If so, it’s active to a non default RAM clock speed. Turn down the clock one notch. Usually 400MHz is the safest increment. |

" I figured out what my problem was. The PC turned off in the 2nd act when I killed the boss Balbal (this is the third boss in the second act). And it turned off exactly when the boss used the 3rd poison. As a result, the solution is the following - just find a high-level friend who will help you kill the boss quickly (any class except the witch). Last edited by Kain#3490 on Dec 21, 2024, 5:00:01 PM

I wanted to respond to the OP in particular as I have nearly the same setup.
ROG Strix Z790-E gaming MB i5-13600K Processor 32GB Ram AMG Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU Asus ROG Thor 1000w PSU Liquid Cooling Since day 1 I have had a weird stuttering despite the game stating I am at a solid 120 FPS. I decided today to do a file integrity check through steam and oddly enough the performance smoothed out. Based on the specs of my PC, I should not be having any performance issues. But speaking on your original post, now my PC has shut itself off a few times while trying to enjoy my newfound performance gains. I have not seen any issues related to heat or voltage spikes, but I am experiencing the same thing. All drivers are up to date so I am not sure what the issue is at this point as I have trouble shooted to the best of my abilities. I stumbles upon your thread and thought I would add my PC specs and 2 cents. |

I have the exact same problem as well. My PC turns off out of nowhere after 2-3 hours game time, sometimes even less.
PoE2 need to look into this with high priority! |
