Turn off trading, ban all RMT botters

If they banned bots, the steam numbers would drop by 200k and they can't have that

I'd bet that most of the free codes given out were to bots

oooh are you hinting on some collusion level event similar to Blizzard and d2jsp?
Its not bots, blame this on rarity. People farm with max rarity getting everything. Rarity is a bane to poe.. its horrible, it should be optional craft as an addon, not a mandatory gear.

Now if you want to play the game you must first get rarity

only then hp or es... and resistances.

I dislike rarity so much im almost quitting poe2. GGG.

True, poe1 would also be down to 1k players probably.
have you considered this might be the market price for such items?

End game maps can be beaten with few exalts stuff.

Where are the RMT evidences? How is the market altered?

MF means fuckall

Right now people making real bank are farming ritual, its a 18 div buy in to get the atlas points required to make it work, then you start making insane amounts of money.

Trial master runs are great, so is sanctum runs. Boss content that drops multi div per run on average.

you could map with 200% raritiy and get absolutely blasted by someone with 0 running maps 5 tiers below you and 6 points in ritual tree, or someone blasting through ultimatum runs buying keys so they can do trial master ever run.

Maps are good enough to start with, but if you actually NEED that multi div gear mapping alone is pretty awful without investing a lot into the atlas nodes for past league mechanics.
You can't win at a casino.
Some personal thoughts...

I agree that the official trade is a mess right now, even the site is not down (wich it is most of the time).
Very hard to get an idea of the currency exchange rates.

On the other hand, this is exactly what I expected, so I'm easygoing. The whole economy is in the first days of development, there is no guidelines. The drop rates of any items, including currency, will probably wildly change in the next weeks.
There will be people trying to sell a scroll of wisdom for 10 divine, just for fun.
And there will be people selling their stuff "too cheap" because they don't know what certain modifiers are worth to others, and even the worth of modifiers will change greatly with skill nerfs/buffs.

I've been playing PoE since 2019 and have a rough idea of poe market trends, even though I'm not much of a trader.
It always has a lot of movement from the beginning of a league ("season") to the end of it. Also people buying cheap and selling expensive will always be a thing.
It's how basic capitalism works, a school lesson of economy. It may even help us to decide how much of it we want to have in the real world.

Im pretty sure the prices will some day get a plateau we can work with. In PoE1, it wasn't too hard to buy somewhat decent mapping/early endgame gear for a reasonable price. And this will very likely also be the case in PoE2.

I believe some of the devs had a D2jsp account back in the day, there was over 2000 posts in the first few hours of poe2 on that site aka RMT trading site where ALL the mods of TFT have accounts and "trade" there.

if they had d2jsp accounts, it's probably to find the guys doing rmt.

the other thing is: they temp hired a top rmt guy to consult them on how to fight rmt, there is no better expert and it's been a smart move.

---

for inflated prices: it's natural that prices explode over time. especially after some people found ways to generate masses of currency in the game, prices, increase.

also, the best way to sell a item you don't know the price of , has ever been, to heavily overprice it and slowly decrease the price until there is a seller.

you normally do that by repricing whole quad tabs every day and vendor the tab with the lowest price.

overpriced items have nothing to do with rmt but rather with concentration of whealth and demand/supply of those items
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
