Is POE2 the sequel of POE1 ... or the opposite?

Can’t please everyone the only think ggg can do is make the game THEY want to make

People can dislike their game. It is fine if people say they hate the game when they do that too. That is perfectly normal, should be pretty expected.

POE2 is really not that great in terms of my experience so far. It does feel like it was influenced a little too much by Ruthless. I'm sitting in end game looking at the screen and completely filled with apathy on whether to click "Traverse" again. There is a whole lot of "what's the point" going through my head each time.

POE1 being a different game with little overlap means maybe it maintains a large enough playerbase that GGG doesn't throw it away. That's what I'm hoping for at least. POE2 just isn't a replacement for me, so if POE1 dies then it's off to find a new franchise to try.

GGG should shut down POE 1 sooner rather than later. The better game has arrived.

Incorrect absolute statement of "Better game" aside, this feels like a terrible take. POE2 is simply not going to attract the entirety of POE1 players. I can honestly say I'm in the crowd that isn't that much into POE2 for sure. It's okay for a playthrough but I'm at the point where I sit logged in and do other things rather than play. It's not terribly fun.

With POE1 in place, they could still use POE1 support to subsidize POE2. I personally hate that untargeted support, but that's what it is. Remove POE1 and now you lose some players permanently and their associated support. What percentage of the playerbase? I have no idea. Time will tell as more data is collected. I personally think the next POE1 league is going to be huge because of people thinking POE2 was something else and to send a message about keeping it. We shall see I suppose.

That might have been one of my posts you saw about the games being different meaning both have a greater chance to survive, it's a point I've been trying to make, certainly. Anyone saying either is "the better game" I think can be safely ignored...

I hope the next POE1 league is huge - and while 2 will become probably my main game, that's not going to stop me enjoying 1. Leagues are what, 3-4 months long normally, and I suspect I'm not alone in playing mostly only the first half of that to any real extent. So the whole "I hope 1 dies or 2 fails" arguments seem absurd to me - I want them both to be awesome so I can play both at their respective league launches.

What would my ideal world be? Normal 3-4 month poe1 leagues starting again in Feb when they said the next one is likely, and then after 2 is at full release, maybe look at bringing some of the technical/graphical improvements over to 1 to improve that experience too.
Poe is to poe2 as to d2 is to d4
You know one of those two games is in early access so most if not all that functionality will likely be brought over.

I don't get why GGG told so many lies about POE1.
They told us that POE2 wouldn't affect POE1. They told us that POE1 would have leagues aswell. They told us POE1 will not be at maintantance mode with the release of POE2.
And here we are, playing Settlers for 6 months and not any info yet if there will be a new league and when.
Plz GGG, don't bury POE1. This game made what you are today!!

They also told us multiple and way more times that PoE2 will be directly like PoE1, or even a mesh.

But these bozos rather talk about that one time they talked about "a vision".

I'm not even sure these "PoE2 need to be slow" guys will ever reach endgame. Breach, ritual and expeditions first mechanics. Sure buddy the game will be slow.
It's not really that slow endgame, it just doesn't feel like poe nor an aRPG. The character progression is not there, there is about 5% build diversity compare to poe1. And I don't care about any early access. This is a game design choice, they want to tell us how to play, they want to be tedious.

Everything the new players asks for poe2 is to be a 1 playthrough RPG. They should fkoff and play a regular RPG. Simple as it is.

Hardly disagree. They gave scarse ressources to PoE1 since 2021 and now it is in an abandoned state.
With PoE2 by trying to make everyone play the most punishing aRPG, an already niche genre. They are clashing 10 years old vate able to play the same game for 10 years to sugar raised kids jumping from video games to video games every 2 months. We already see the amount of toxicity it procude.

I think GGG by spiting in old timer face, abandoning PoE1 the masterpiece that dethroned blizzard, and trying to switch genre (poe2 will never be an aRPG). They pretty much gave themselves all the chance to disapear all in all.

Unofficially, Poe1 has been in maintenance mode due to low effort leagues since 2021. Now that poe2 is out, things won’t get any better for poe1, especially since poe1 was used as an experimental sandbox for poe2 and that driving purpose for new leagues is no longer required. Pretty sad imho. The once greatest ARPG of all time has been relegated to a side show fairy tale.

I hope that's not the case
But ...
GGG is not exactly doing much to make worried POE1 players think otherwise
Some communication would help a lot

This is some serious nonsense! 3.25 was the biggest league we had in a long time maybe the biggest league we ever had so maintenance mode my a..

Is it? When did we get a real "expansion" last time and not only a league?
We are 3.25 atm. When will be serious effort put to poe again? Will there be 4.0? Whats their vision for POE1?

We got some really nice leagues i personally loved affliction most.
But GGG have to bring a bunch of people to POE1 again who have fun to move forward oon POE1. Make it a small dedicated Team. 20-30 People having fun.
2-3 Leagues a year. 1 Expansion a year. Perhaps 4.0 with improved graphics at some point.

I probably will play both games and i guess POE2 will improve. But until it improves a lot i will need poe1 to be satisfied ;)
For POE2 i hope they will get to a point where im having fun to make builds again. I love making my builds in poe1 but that magic didnt transfer well.
